What is best way to gt drinks on: Carry on vs. Checked?

If you're flying to the ship, you must put them in your checked luggage. If you're driving, it doesn't seem to make much difference. Depending on the cruise line, they could take the beverages away from you no matter where you pack it. Many cruise lines aren't allowing beverages to be brought on, no matter where you pack it. And when they do the luggage screening, be it at the entrance to the ship, or when using the big xray machines, they can ask you to remove the beverages.

If you could be more specific as to which line...? For instance, Carnival allows a reasonable amount of soft drinks (and wine) to be brought on board. Doesn't matter if it's checked or in your carry-on. Water is not a problem, nor any other non-alcoholic beverage. The ONLY thing you can't legally take on board is beer and liquor.:)

Steve is sailing COnquest.

a reasonable amount can be carried on-- but is it easier??

depends on what time you get to the pier-- if you head over early you coul dbe on the ship at noon--but cabins wont be available until 1:30 or so -- you will then have to carry that stuff around with you til then.

Some people will say-- jsut drop off the stuff in the cabin but last two cruises the fire doors were closed to the cabin area where our cabins were.

Also-- until cabins are secured I wouldnt leave anything in there til then.

won't the soda or water burst being under the plane with the checked luggage?

that's all i would need having wet clothes.

Dont even pack in into the plane-- that stuff goes against your weight allowance and soda weighs a ton.

Get the cab driver to stop at a near store once you arrive at your cruise port.

Driving down from the Dallas area. There is a Wally World and Target close to where I'm staying. Will pack in checked so don't have to hall around!
