Room Attendant Salaries

Recommended Posts

CT,

When a US Citizen is employed by a line they are required to with hold US Federal Income Tax. Since they are not a US Co they do no OASDI.

My Daughter has to pay 100% of the SS & Medicare.

Your daughter doesn't work in the service area of the cruiseline. I am referring to the service workforce. You keep bringing up your daughter but she works for the salaried staff and does not apply here.

As your cabin steward if they withhold income taxes, SS, or Medicare from their income.

CT

You are quite the wit.
I wish I could say you had any.

I did teach economics in a university before getting a real job and am sorry that you lack the understanding of the economics underlying your socialistic view of the labor force.

So...teaching at the university level isn't a real job? Perhaps it wasn't one in your case - if you were a teaching assistant as an undergraduate or whatever it was that you were doing there...but I think that the thousands of people with Ph Ds teaching at the university level might disagree with you that they don't have "real" jobs.

How transparent of you. Then again, should we expect anything less?

Rustynail, you raise a valid point. I've never understood that either - I prefer my peanut butter with molasses, not jam. I am sure that cruizin'tall could tell us the socioeconomic reasons as to why the PBJ came into existence and how it's probably linked to evil north americans who are to lazy to cook themselves a real meal. [\Quote]Your words, not mine. Ever hear of the concept of self-fulfilling propehcy? Look it up.

Cruizn'tall - A psychologist by trade who has gone back to grad school at the tender age of what... 32??? thats what I think you stated in an earlier post. Hmmmm, sounds like a failed practise to me. It is forseeable though that a psychologist with your confrontational, pompous, self-righteous, superiority complexed attitude would have a hard time keeping his clients... Were you clumsily trying to embody Fritz Pearls? are you a true militant of his Gestalt therapy?
Wow, that was interesting - but completely inconsequential since I am an experimental psychologist, not a clinical one. Thanks for the update on how irrelevant you can be. Refreshing, really.

Have you ever thought that maybe people don't spend much time responding to your original post and the "arguments" contained therein because not many of us feel that your "arguments" are sound enough to warrant a response?[\Quote]

Sure, thats one way of looking at it - problem is most are responding - they are just not providing a coherent and interpretable line of argument contradicting my original one. They are just flaming my original post. Just like you are right now.

Welcome to the club.

Last question : through your years of education and experience in the field of psychology, you arrived at which of the following self diagnosis : narcissistic personality disorder or scitzophrenia with delusions of grandeur???
See above, and it seems that you are a little bit too intimately acquanted with these diagnoses for the lehman. Sounds like projection to me. Look it up. Or are you already so versed in the neo-freudian perspective that yo don't have to....

Wow a non flaming response!

I'm giddy.

Well, not so ironically - cruising. Otherwise, my passion used to be football (Europes version) and football (America's version) until injury ended that.

I fill the gaps in my spare time with fighting off insurgencies of the dim witted, writing, enjoying mountain biking, scuba/snorkling and riding my KLR 650 (I am beginning to wonder whether my relentless pleas to the cruise line industry to allow motorcycles to be carried onto cruiseships is revealing to be an exercise in futility).

I'm making a note of your jelly preference and adding it to my database for my informal correlational study of the PBJ preferences of cruisecritic posters and whether they are likely to flame or not flame.

That WAS tongue in cheek for those of you that are wondering - and you were right in explaing "sans" to the folks on this board.

Jelly On.

Your kidding right? I could have sworn you were a part of the famous communist republicans. They are really very common :p .

Too bad, you don't have a sense of humor or a sense of humility.

Why do you bother with us dim bulbs? Are you that pathetic that the only people who will listen to your erudition are people in a cruising forum? Perhaps, you should find a forum that values your psychological and intellectual type. Or better yet get to work on your dissertation, it is really a more important to convince your faculty advisors than me about your brilliance. It is amazing take a few undergrad economics glasses and viola you are a communist.

jc,

Nobody can be as obtuse as Cruiz'n Tall, unless it's intentional. I've come to the conclusion that the smartest one of us was goodml, who posted this about 100 replies ago:

Has anyone noticed, Join date: July 2004 Posts: 28 (as of this moment).

Can you say the 't' word? OR could this be Brad or one of our other friends back in a new form?

Darn it, I just couldn't stop myself from coming back for one more.

Cruiz'n Tall's denial is ringing more and more hollow every day.

Congratulations, you've officially achieved a level of incomprehensability that I thought impossible - even on these boards.

I can honestly say I haven't the slightest idea what your rant above is attempting to relay.

Humility is a quality best left unspoken, as in the quality of modesty - none of which I suspect you have a firm grip on as it may be. Humility has no place in an environment so volatile. When one has to take sword in hand (in this case, keyboard) in self defense, one doesn't generally first take pause and engage in a deep introspection about their presumed humbleness.

There have been posts that have commented on the sarcastic humor that they have seen in my replies - perhaps you should go back and do some reading - maybe even continue to work on that elusive Ph D of yours.

What you seem to have failed to grasp, my spectacularly insular, non-descript-degree-holding partner in discourse, is that I have simply been replying to the inciting replies that you, and your apparent band of berrating half-wits have been posting for the last 9 pages. When you and your "brethren of the inconsequential" stop bothering me, I will inevitabley stop bothering with you.

It's quite simple really. Then again, simple is a relative term, isn't it?

Gosh! I'm being insulted for being on these boards. CT--You forgot arguing in your list of hobbies. Is there a board on the web for debates? You may find some coherent, interpretable lines of argument at one of those sites. Most of us aren't here to argue.

CT I doubt very much that RCCL or any other cruise line will, in the near future, change the jogging track into a 1/8 mile oval. And I really don't think they will replace the mini golf with a dirt bike track either.

So how many and what cruises have you taken? My DW and I are going on our 3rd on RC and our 1st on Carnival this Sept. Both NE/Canada...just incase we miss something the first time out.

My ultimate denial may be my underestimation of how much of an exercise in futility trying to have a rational discord with the students of "Flamers, without an actual flame" 101 (i.e. you and yours).

I needn't hide behind the mantra of someone elses guise. I am who I am, and no one else.
