Carnival casino pay out...

Why would you think they would ever share this information. Would you ask someone in a store..... "How much are you making off of me when I purchase this product ?"

I would also think if you found it out you would not like the answer. I would be surprized if they even approached Vegas or other gambling mecas. Those casinos have competion. A ship doesn't.

Re-read my message, I said that I doubt they'd tell. Also, it really doesn't personally affect me and I usually only play tables and I know what the house edge is or lack thereof. I'm an experienced gambler.

Hell with the slots. How about the drinks after speaking to a crew member on a excursion she said that not only do they get most items below cost some are free. Rum and coke Pax rate $5.49 crew $0.85 tell me thats fair. Also ever watch them make a foo foo drink 2 shots of liquor 3 shots mix and ice lots of ice. Even heard a bartender say carnival is genius they make more money off ice they produce them self than anything else.

What everybody should stop and realize is that the drink recipes that you get on a cruise ship are probably very similar to the drinks that you would get at a local Friday's or Applebee's. 2oz of liquor per glass with a price tag of 5 to 6 dollars. These drinks are not meant to get you rip-roaring drunk after 1 or 2, if they did that would probably be annoying to most of the other passengers and certainly to the crew. A restaurants profit (any restaurant/bar/grill) is huge. take a normal fifth and figure in about 25-30 shots then multiply that by 5 or 6 dollars and subtract the 17 - 25 dollars that they paid for the bottle. Cruise lines are not the only places that overcharge for the drinks, but I never hear anybody complain at Applebee's, Friday's or Bennigan's, when it's the same deal there too.

Just an observation.

They're nothing compared to drink prices in the larger cities. And honestly they could pretty much charge whatever they wanted, as again, they're the "only game in town". Our S&S bill was pretty reasonable, maybe because we don't make a point of paying to get hammered every night, but we don't hold back on the drinks due to the pricing.

In watching "Cruising Do's and Don't's" tonight on the Travel Channel, a casino manager from Carnival stated that they adhere to Nevada pay out percentages.

Typical advertising, 20% truth! We should know, we donated plenty.

My guess as to an answer for this is because, at least in the US, those things are regulated by gaming commissions and therefore have a minimum legal payout. The information of those laws are a matter of Freedom of Information.

edit: reading a later post I see that the gaming commission doesn't regulate payout, so take what I said with a grain of salt.

Exactly. They only regulate a minimum payout. And even in Nevada, they are not in anyway required to tell you the % payout of a particular machine. UNLESS it is posted as a 98% payout or whatever.

If you ask, you will get the pat answer "Our machines are regulated by the Nevada Gaming Commission". Which means every machine pays a minimum of 75% and that's all you are authorized to know.

On cruise ships, I doubt many go over that 75%..there is no reason to at all.

I don't know about the percentages but I do know that if you win more than $1,000 they give you a 1099. It happened to a friend of mine. We were shocked because we were on the high seas but they said they have to give them out.

Linda

No 1099 or anything else for that matter came in the mail or from anyone on the ship. Just the cash and alot of congrats!!! :D

here's my take on it, I don't know much, except how to put the money in, play the bonus, and take the money out (sometimes I have trouble with that and spend it all, but that's another story)

I think the odds are lower, but if you are there at the right time, so be it

We won 1132 and 5000 the last night of our cruise 2 years ago. They gave us cash for the 1132 (no tax since it was less than 600X total wager) and a check that we could cash there or take home. We got a 1099 on the spot even though it was international waters, the ship is registered in the US.

There is a little area on the side of most machines (I have not noticed them at foxwoods or mohegan, but only on cruise ships). It shows how much has been put in and paid out. Those with the biggest difference between put in and pay out seemed to pay more.

Ive had the best payouts the 1st and last day . they were so tite in between they squiked . I watched the cassino manager one afternoon before a slot terminate go around to the machines with a small ipod that he put to the machine. Isked him what he was doing he showed me the screen. It showed all info odds how many times played payouts rate of payout. HE set the slots for terminate to max payout. I played in it and what a difference . I racked up $5000 in my 5 min. SO I know they can and do change payouts at will.

No, they can't and don't. The slots have a regular mode and a tournament mode. They're not adjusting the payout tables or virtual reels, just placing the machine into a different program mode. It's either or, they can't just set it to whatever they want.

Tournament mode programs also will not accept coins and will not pay out coins either. If they were just "changing the payouts" as you suggest, what would keep me from just hitting the cash out button when I got to $5000 in the slot tournament?

I believe the US government has forced the cruise lines to give out the 1099's in a deal for allowing US ports of call as a base. You know the government wants their cut.

Anyone know if they will holdback 30% on jackpots for non-US residents (in lieu of giving a 1099) like they would do in Las Vegas?

It's one thing to force the cruiseships to report winnings for US taxpayers, but it's another to force non-US residents to pay US taxes when the casino is in international waters.

They give them out...and they turn them into the IRS.

I know somebody who "forgot" to turn a cruise win W2-G in with last years income tax forms and had to come up with it. LOL!

I e-mailed the casino host on the Conquest just to find out if they would answer or not. Still waiting to see.

I emailed the casino manager of the Pride and got a response tonight. I told him I was cruising on 4/01. He replied that he looked forward to seeming me on 6/03. The rest of it was a cut and paste job telling me about the casino, the games offered. It is pretty easy to spot an email "template response". That said, it was cool with me. I was surprised he got my dates wrong, but he ws probably responding to a few different emails with the same template and plugging the dates in.

I e-mailed our Glory casino host for our upcomming April 7 cruise and he replied back quickly the very next morning. While I have about $60 in casino credits, they expire 10 days before cruise (only good for 2 years). He did say that he would arrange a little surprise for our cabin.

I don't know what the percentages are but I can tell you this. On my second night on board the Glory last year, I hit a slot for $500 on the 3rd pull.

My DW and I spent most of the casino time with video poker and came out slightly ahead for the week. The $500 won in the slot machine went for a new ring for DW in St. Thomas.

We did enjoy our casino time on the Glory every night.

Having gambled in both Vegas and on CCL, I can tell you that the payouts on table games are the same. It's actually a lot more relaxed playing blackjack or craps on CCL, as they are not as anal regarding "table rules".

However, if the ship has a "PokerPro" Texas Hold'em Table, be careful. The rake on that table is awful.
