We stayed at the Queen and Crescent Hotel on Camp St. and we booked it through a online site and paid $65.00 in January. The hotel was clean and quite and just 1 1/2 blocks to the French Quarter, 10 min. walk to Harrah's Casino.:)

100.00 is going to be limiting. The Hilton may be anywhere from 129. to 179. a night. The Astor Crown Plaza is great in terms of location, and it is probably cheaper than the Hilton. Seriously, the Astor has location, location, location. I think Harrah's casino just opened a hotel, so you may check to see if they have any specials.

There are many decent hotels in the area. The $100 price limit may be a problem though. We recently booked the "3 or 4-star mystery hotel" through an on-line agency and it turned out to be the Astor for $69.00. You might want to try that.

I used to do the online name your own price with the old celebrity spokesman and would get a 4 star Metairie hotel (suburbs) for 44.00 a night! But since the in-laws moved up here by us, we use their empty house now.

I'd totally do that web site.. but go for broke... put in 4 or 5 star hotel in the french quarter or Central Business District for 99.00 a night. That website considers Astor to be a three star hotel.....

You probably can't go wrong... I can't think of a 4 or 5 star hotel in New Orleans that would be in a scary neighborhood. Most are on the main streets. Something like the Burbon Orleans might be noisy because it is actually in the French Quarter... but that's probably your biggest issue.

You may have a hard time finding a good hotel in the Quarter for 2 nights for under $100 in November. I'd also say to do the Priceline or Hotwire route. You can't really go wrong with a 3 star or better in the Quarter.

We stayed at a lovely B&B just outside the Quarter on our recent cruise. The Elysian Fields Inn is about a 10 minute walk from Jackson Square. I believe they have a room that is under $100. This was our first visit to NOLA, and we found the innkeepers to be very knowledgeable and helpful. We found some great places through their suggestions that we otherwise never would have stumbled upon. I enjoyed being slightly out of the hustle and bustle of the Quarter as well.

Im from New Orleans and the Sheraton on Canal Street runs specials a lot of times, try them. If you go to priceline, you may be able to find a good hotel. I would stay in the quarter or in the metairie/kenner/harahan area. Stay out of New Orleans east and central city. Let me know if you have any specifics and I can let you know if it is a safe area.

Its our first time back since Katrina. We are showing the kids N.O. this time. Any ideas on where to eat and "tourist" around the Montelone? I know that Bourbon St is around the corner and Cafe Du Monde is a few blocks away for morning coffee.

The Gumbo Shop is a great place to get New Orleans seafood. It's not just a gumbo place. It is walking distance. Excellent food. We live in New Orleans and I kids like the Aquarium. They also like to take the ghost tours in the quarter if your kids are a little older. They like the ghost stories. Some of the street cars are running and this is also a fun thing to do. On the weekend, there are always interesting things going on around Jackson Square and the French Market.

Enjoy your stay in our fine city. It's coming back since Katrina and the quarter is safer now than before.

I stayed at the Hilton in early November 2006 for $85 a night. I am a frequent stayer though, so not sure if that is rack rate or special deal. It was very convenient to the pier and I could walk everywhere I wanted to go. Keep an eye on their prices, they might fluctuate depending on the number of bookings.

:) My DD and I stayed at the Renaissance Arts Hotel (Marriott) in the Warehouse (Arts) District close to the cruise ship terminals and convention center.

It was so nice. They have a rooftop pool that is really relaxing at night. You can see the skyline of hotels - a pretty view. The rooms are really large, and the beds very comfortable. The decor throughout is colorful, tasteful, artsy, cool and clean. Not at all tacky or cluttered. We really enjoyed our stay. They staff is nice and helpful.

:( The only problem is finding it! There is not good signage out front. We drove past it, I don't know how many times, before we just happened to see a little sign. Then it was around the block again on one-way streets to get back to it. They really need to address that issue!

 We walked to the French Quarter. A long walk, but doable. Definitely need comfortable shoes for that! About 6+ blocks to French Quarter - about 3+ blocks to street cars.

:o We used Marriott points for our stay, and with the AAA rate, it was affordable. Keep in mind that the parking is $28, though.

:p Room service breakfast was very pricey, but very good.

I highly recommend staying at this stylish hotel in New Orleans.

I was having trouble finding a hotel in New Orleans because the same night we are going to be there, the Saints have a home game. All the hotels were sold out, which is crazy because the cruise is 6 months away.

I went onto Harrah's website and it gave me the option to book the Hilton (across the street) since they were sold out. They must have to keep so many rooms open for Harrah's use. I was beyond excited because I got it for $89!

I thought this information may be helpful to someone else.
