You could also try farecast.com. Similar to kayak but they offer price predictions. I've used it a couple of times and done well.

 

I haven't heard of these websites... are they similar to travelocity and orbitz...

 

I'm always looking for cheaper air fare... or are these websites used as bidding for cheaper fares...

Not really Dona because you can't purchase from them. They basically just list available flights and then link you to the airline to purchase your ticket. Some airlines don't participate so you still have to go looking for some of the smaller ones like Spirit. Farecast offers predictions as to what the prices are likely to do in the next 7 days. It claims to be about 75% accurate. It's worked for us both times we've booked after watching flights through them. I actually found out about it on the Cruise Air board here in February before purchasing our flights to LA.

We are cruising on the Freedom the last week of March. I purchased the airfare on AA the day it opened up and I'm glad I did. We wanted to get down there early Saturday so we could go to South Beach and we wanted N/S as last time we had problems with the connection. I was more than willing to pay the price for the flights I wanted. It was still about $80.00 less than thru RCI. Below is the price tracking from Yapta for our flight.

imo i think usair and southwest are the only carriers to fly phl-fll non stop

Being spring break and with the demand, I don't know what kind of deals you will get. Last fall when Southwest opened up the schedule for March 2007 the lowest priced ticket from Chicago to FLL was about $450.00

I usually like to book my airfare early but the prices have been crazy. Looking to fly from Philly to Ft Lauderdale March 08. We also want non stop. Has anyone had any luck with airfare?

They will go down, when the following happen:

 

Fuel costs decrease

Labor costs decrease

Government fees decrease

Employee health care costs decrease

 

Get the idea?

 

Everything costs more than it used to. Air fares have not kept up with inflation over the past 20 years and that is one reason why the airlines are in the shape they are in.

I'm great Dona. How are you guys? I was just saying to my husband last night, I want to do that exact same Monarch trip again next May. We had such a great time and enjoyed ourselves in LA so much as well. People think we're nuts to fly so far for a 4 night cruise but it was one of our best.

We're doing good too. I had a little medical problem following the cruise in May (landed me in the hospital for 7 days) but doing better each day... another surgery is scheduled for Aug. 7. Turns out I had something going on in the spinal fluid that caused it to swell following the cruise (June 1 -8) which cause severe headaches. I'm on medication now trying to relieve the swelling and doing a bit better each day. I had a blast on that cruise though!! AWESOME time!!! Now I can't wait for Voyager. I just wish now that the temps in Vegas would cool down a bit!!!

 

I seems so long ago since Monarch, doesn't it?

We live near Cincinnati airport, and are driving to Indianapolis. It's about $140 cheaper per person for us to drive 1.5 hours. CVG is one of the most expensive airports to fly out of. Maybe op can try a different airport, that is close to home for better prices. I booked our air for our 3/2008 cruise about a month ago, $256 per person rdtp n/s.

PS We are flying to FLL,too.

And dont forget to clear your cookies out..........or else each time ,you check(Kayak,Orbitz,etc) it may be the same price or higher.......

Sites like orbitz, kayak, etc are great for price shopping. But when you find a fare you like at sites like that, then go direct to the specific airlines website and quote it there. You'll usually find the same flight and fare at the same price (or even 5-10.00 less). It's much better to book directly with the airline when you can. If you have unexpected events or schedule changes later, MUCH BETTER to be able to deal directly with the airline and not have that third party involved.

I found that the airlines’ websites have been having lower fares than the discount sites. We just went to New Orleans and found this to be true for American Airlines. We got really good prices about 5 weeks before we traveled.

I agree. I am working on our Cincinnati to San Juan flights. Checked all the usual suspects, then checked Delta. Not only were they cheaper, they had more flights listed. I'll save around $500.00 for our family of 4.

I know it wouldnt do you any good but I kept checking on Kayak for airfares from New York to Miami for next April and got a really good rate for a non-stop flight of $118 roundtrip. Its Passover week and I thought the rates would be high. Maybe because I booked early I still got a cheap rate.
