Will I be disappointed for choosing inside?

Our first 2 cruises we had outside stateroom, Deck 7 and this past cruise Deck 2. Now we are cruising with 6 other couples (Southern Caribbean) and decided to go a little cheaper and go inside because some are budgeted. We and another couple are the only onces who have cruised before. We decided to all stay together on Deck 3. Now I'm wondering if I will be disappointed. I think it will cost an extra $200.00 for us to have a oceanview. DH says we only need to sleep and shower in there and with that many we people in our group will not be in our room that much. Any opinions? Will I really be missing out?

I think it depends on how you use your room. If you really only sleep and shower there then an inside should do nicely. Plus when traveling with a group it is nice to all be near each other. Are there any outsides nearby on the same deck? For myself I usually enjoy some downtime each day in the room and I think I would feel to confined in an inside. If you decide to stay with the inside just make a point to make use of all the lounges and public areas on the ship more regularly. Either way have a great time on your trip.

Our 1st cruise was an inside and thereafter always had an outside. This past Jan we had an inside for a 4 nite cruise that we wanted to do as cheap as possible. The cabin was small-122 sq ft. It was fine for that amount of time. However, that said, we just also booked a southern carib 11 nite and my husband said the same thing yours did about saving the $220 in getting an inside. I think for the difference in price you should weigh the length of the cruise and if u can go without light for that many days in your cabin when u are there then go for the inside. I decided that i could not go 11 nites without some light so I chose the outside. If that $200 is going to make the difference of having an excursion or not then you should chose the inside. Hope this helps:)

You didn't say what cruise line you were taking, but if it were Carnival I would't worry at all, unless you booked bunk beds, cause all on their inside and outside cabins are 180 sq. ft. We usually book best available inside, and 50/50 get an inside or an outside.

our last cruises we have been on the inside didnt spend much time there except sleep, shower, etc. we loved the fact of the pitch black room, talk abt sleep good, wow that was great but this time we have gone for the balcony we will see how it goes............

I had an inside room on a 4 night cruise on the Carnival Fantasy and it was fine for that length of time. We spent the port days out sightseeing, the sea day up on the deck soaking up the sun, and the evenings at dinner and shows. The inside rooms were just as large as the outside, so I never felt cramped. I agree that the dark helped me sleep better too.

But for a longer cruise, I want to be able to see outside. I can't take the closed-up feeling for very long. On my next cruise I have my first balcony (for Alaska) and I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it - just hope I'm not so spoiled that I can't go back to the window again! ;)

Seems to me that $200 is not very much of a difference - I would go for the outside. If it were $500 or more, I might have to think longer about it.

Don't sweat it. Insides are fine. I would pay the extra $200 if we were travelling alone but getting an OV now might look a bit snobbish but you know your group. Balconies are nice too but I would never stay home because one wasn't available or I couldn't afford one.

Remember any cabin on a cruise ship is better than the cabin back home

:) :D :) :D

Everyone thanks for the great info. I called the TA and asked her if I upgrade to an OV cabin directly across from the others and could I apply the savings certificate that I used for the inside. She said yes so I'm not sure how much more I'll be paying since the certificate was for $125.00 for OV - so It's probably around $75.00 or so since the taxes/fees will be a little more. I'll be seeing some of the group this weekend and I'll mention to them I upgraded since I had the coupon. We only have one other couple who has cruised before and it will be up to them if they want to switch to OV. Another couple has mentioned they would like a balcony so they are thinking of upgrading so that leaves 4 other couples to stay inside or pay the $200.00 for the OV. I know that 3 of couples are budgeted and would want to use the $200.00 for other things so they will probably stay right where they are.

I love inside cabins, and I tend to be claustrophobic!

I love it being dark at night. I sleep MUCH better. And with Carnival's bedding? Oh, my! I could sleep the entire cruise.

I've had OV and won't spend my money on them again. Being able to look out a window is not worth the extra money for me, at all. I just get up, shower, get dress and get up on deck.

The darkness is not going to mess up anyone's internal clock. It's not like anyone is going to be in the cabin 24/7!

I have my first balcony coming up, but since I normally sail shorter cruises, I'm sure I'll have no problem going back to insides on those.

I don't have enough money to become a balcony snob. I'd rather cruise more often than spend it all on the cabin.

Good news the taxes and fees are exactly the same no matter which cabin you pick. The taxes are not the kind like sales tax that are a percentage, they are a fixed amount per person.

For an extra $200, an ov is well worth it IMO. It is nice to be able to look out a window and see what the weather is like. If you have arrived in port. If the sun is up yet.

See, I'm exactly the opposite. That $200 would go a long way toward my next cruise.

What the weather is like? The weather is always perfect on a cruise! :p

Until I can get outside, I'm not really going to know what the weather is like anyway. The few times I've encountered rain (I've sailed in April, May, June & December), it was over within minutes anyway.

If the weather isn't what I have expected, all I have to do is trek down a couple of flights of stairs to change. Besides, I need all the exercise I can get when cruising!

Inside or outside with a window, I would keep the extra money and head to the casino. Inside or balcony, I would take the balcony, unless the price difference was too high. We usually cruise in March, and with my birthday April 1st, I ask for the balcony as an early birthday present.
