Ontario Cruiser Posted August 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2007 We just paid our final payment for the Hawaiian cruise in Novemberon the Summit and the prices were jumping around since we booked in January. You have to check Celebrity's website very often. Anyway we started off with an inside cabin and then just last week I noticed the verandah cabin prices dropped. The bottom line was that we paid $16.00 pp difference. I had previously moved to an outside cabin which was more so she actually gave us a refund. crazy canuck Posted August 13, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2007 Does Celebrity ever lower their prices closer to sailing ?????????? Celebrity has senior specials but it is easier to find them on other sites and then phone them.
hugsthecat Posted August 13, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2007 What Celebrity says is that the prices keep going up...So the cabin that you booked last year will now be more..Having that always check the sites .Sometimes you cxan get a deal on an upgrade etc for very little money. If you Canadian like me ,you get into the issue of whether to book in US or Can. dollars..but that is a different storey. Michael
Karynanne Posted August 13, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2007 Once in awhile Celebrity does lower their prices. Watch them closely. If the prices in your particular category does lower, call your TA or Celebrity, and they will adjust it for you. We've done this on a couple of past cruises. Our Hawaii cruise in 10/06, was actually $l000.00/per couple less than what we had originally booked. It really does depend on the destination, and time of year, and how full the ship is....supply & demand. Karyn
CruisingChick Posted August 13, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2007 You can only get the difference if the price goes lower up until final paymet is due. Once you have made your final payment and the cruise does go lower you are out of luck. Most final payment dates are 70 days or greater before a cruise, so if you can wait sometimes after final payment dates the price drops or it goes on Happy Hour special. bobbyleduck Posted August 13, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2007 Don't forget to check various Online agencies and watch for the Tuesday specials. It seems that Celebrity frequently lowers prices on various cruises on Tuesday, and agencies frequently add little bonuses such as onboard credits or insurance. Happy cruising to all! MiddleagedM Posted August 13, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2007 We booked a cruise in April, 2006 that sailed in October 2006 for $1700/pp. (Cat 2C balcony guarantee) After we made our final payment and received our room# and travel docs) we noticed that the price began to drop. Initially it dropped from $1700pp to $1300pp. We called and Celebrity credited the difference back to us since we had already made our final payment. Two weeks later the price dropped again to $999/pp. Again we called and received the additional credit. (Over $1600 toal credit received). The only thing we had to do was return our room assignment and go back into the pool for our new room assignment. As it turned out, after turning in 2 different room assignments, we ended up getting a room 2 doors down from our original (Ended up with a 2A balcony upgrade) Long story short..... you can still get a refund even after your final payment is made as long as you are willing to take any room in the category you originally booked. Drew B Posted August 13, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 13, 2007 Long story short..... you can still get a refund even after your final payment is made as long as you are willing to take any room in the category you originally booked. I think that's true only if you originally booked a guarantee. If you booked a specific cabin, you can keep the cabin and still get the new price unless the new price is advertised as "new bookings only". I know I was able to get a $700 refund, after final booking, all while still retaining my corner FV on Summit...
shofer Posted August 13, 2007 #10 Share Posted August 13, 2007 For our Alaska cruise in 2003, what started as a 9-day cruise originating in San Diego and stopping one night in San Francisco changed 4 months later to an 8-day cruise starting in San Francisco. Needless to say, we had already booked our flights, gotten our cabin, etc. Celebrity refunded the extra day and paid the fee to change our flights since it was their change. A few months after that, after the final payment and before our sailing date, the price dropped $300/pp and out TA got a refund for that also. So even though we were shorted a day, we still got a good deal out of it. We had booked it primarily because of the stop in San Francisco and ended up sailing out of there! We came in an extra day early just to enjoy the city anyway.
cruiseyguy Posted August 13, 2007 #11 Share Posted August 13, 2007 As with the airlines and some cruise lines, Celebrity uses a dynamic pricing model, meaning prices will be adjusted continuously, up or down, depending on supply and demand. As others have noted, it pays to check Celebrity's website often.

sasset Posted August 13, 2007 #13 Share Posted August 13, 2007 About two weeks ago several FVs opened up on Summit to Hawaii in November at about $2800 per person. A few days later the price dropped to $2399, where it still is today. Regards
bobbyleduck Posted August 13, 2007 #14 Share Posted August 13, 2007 Where do you check the Tuesday specials? Check Celebrity and the various Online travel agencies. I noticed that one of them even began the special today. You have to be willing to do some of the work. We're not allowed to advertise on this board, so do a search for "Cruise deals," or "Cruise bargains," or "Low priced cruises." You get the idea. Better yet, make your travel agent do some of the work. Isn't that what they get paid to do? If they are nothing more than an order taker, then why should they get a commission? Happy cruising to all! Bob
bella1979 Posted August 13, 2007 #15 Share Posted August 13, 2007 We got a $700 refund after the final payment when we noticed the price on our inside cabin went down about a month before sailing. So keep checking. We booked directly through Celebrity so it was really easy to call and get the refund. Took less than 5 minutes! :)
