Open Seating Policy?

What are the restrictions regarding the OSD? Will they seat us with other people that have already started eating? Are empty tables always available? Can I eat at 9:00 PM or 2:00PM after a tour? If an excursion starts at 6:00 AM is a restaurant open at 5:00 AM? If we want to eat in the GDR do we have to wear long pants on port days (a dress code question)?

I wore shorts for breakfast or lunch in the GDR but for dinner wore long pants or skirt.

When we were on the Baltic cruise and docked in St. Petersburg, the GDR had a buffet at about 11 pm - since there was an evening excursion to the ballet or folklore show - - we arrived back home at 8:40 pm or so from our private tour and they seated us in the GDR - no problem....I believe the dining room is open either until 9 or 9:30 pm. - but you can always order room service!!

 

We ordered room service for a late afternoon lunch - since we did not stop during the day to have a meal in one of the ports - we had club sandwiches, fruit plate, cheese plate......Of course if you return around 4 pm to the ship - there's a wonderful afternoon tea in Horizons - little finger sandwiches, scones with jam and cream - all sorts of cakes and also stewed fruit.....
