When I board where do I rush first?

Gotta find out--why was your table bad? We've always booked large (8-10 people) tables to meet other people, and, while a particular table might have really obnoxious people, I can't think of any physical location where the table was bad.

And, the four of us rush to...THE LIBRARY! Great chance to get in some good reads while blobbing out on deck.

It was one of two tables closest to the maitre d's podium near the entrance to the dining room on the lower level. It was also located right in front of the service station. The air conditioning never reached us and it must have been 20 degrees warmer at our table than anywhere else in the dining room. We were also the last table to be served anything, though we were often the first table for 8 with all occupants there. We often were just getting our entree while everyone else was heading out for the shows and entertainment. Sorry, I can't remember the table number (I'm trying hard to forget it) but only our tablemates made the dining room experience worthwhile. Don't know if it's because it was late being served and the taste suffered, or because we were expecting so much more, but the food was very disappointing for us. We've been on many cruises-This was our first Celebrity-and I can't say it would be our first choice for the future.

Interestingly enough, on every cruise I've been on (5 of them, at this point), my table has always been the last in the area to get served. It didn't bother me, but I can see why it would be upsetting to you. I'm sorry you had such a bad time.

So far I have learned that I need to rush to guest relations to make sure I can secure a babysitter for the second seating daily on my cruise.

Now I learn I need to rush to the spa to secure a pass in the Thalossotherapy pool.

And then what if I don't get my first choice for seating for dinner? Rush to the dining room to get the other seating.

Then, my traveling companion thinks I should try and secure an upgrade cabin!

I'm already stressed out!

Cheryl

Cheryl, don't be stressed out. First, get unstressed. Now, I hope you are unstressed, relax. First, when you get on board go to your stateroom. Then call the pursars desk and inform them of your need for a babysitter. Then you, husband and child go to the deck for the presailing party. Eat, drink, and be merry. Everything will be fine. Then after you eat go down to the lobby and go to the Pursar's Desk and finalise the arrangements you already made and pay a deposit/fee if neccessary. You are still calm. Then go back to your stateroom.

Then comes the announcement for the safety drill. Do the drill then go back to stateroom. Then you will be almost ready for dinner. First night on Celebrity is usually casual with no assigned seating. Enjoy your meal

If you don't get the dinner reservations you want at your first dinner see the M'aitreD. Explain to the M'aitreD you would rather have different dinner reservations. He will work on it and if he could he will do it. I've done this myself a few times. You should still be unstressed.

You boarded the ship, ate, got babysitter services, safety drill, ate dinner, will go to the welcome aboard show. And best of all, you should not be stressed out. Have a good cruise and let us know how it went when you get back.

That's not true. First night IS casual, but there is assigned seating. You sit with your regular tablemates at your regular table at your regular time.

While this is generally true there are exceptions - I believe these tend to be on the cruises that are more distant flights and which leave late at night (10 or 11PM). For example on our Galaxy cruise last February, which left at 10PM from San Juan, we had open seating the first night. I've heard of some Alaskan cruises sailing from the ports near Anchorage which are like this as well - I'm sure there are other examples.

All the Celebrity Cruises we've taken from New Jersey, Florida or Las Angles, and our cruise from Barcelona, have had normal seating at assigned tables.

If I have learned nothing else, please don't stress:)...no need to rush either.

If you need to do things, then go for it but don't stress over them:)

The Maitr'ds are outside of the dining room on the afternoon

of sailday usually starting about 12:30.

The Spa folks are in their areas in the afternoons too. You

can do that stuff but try not to stress/rush over any of it.

Guest Relations have always been very helpful to me....hopefully

you will have a good experience too:D

Oh, we had opened seating on the first night when I sailed

Constellation back in 2004 too...just that first evening.

;) For once, as soon as we've dropped our bags and washed up, we will be rushing back off the ship as quickly as possible..because we're in Venice!!!

We're flying in that morning, boarding the ship, then leaving as soon as possible to check out the city! This will probably also be the first cruise that I don't plan to eat dinner on board each night. We overnight in Venice, Kusadasi and Civitavecchia and I don't think I'll be rushing back for dinner (even late seating)!!!

Please refresh my memory as it has been a couple of years since our last cruise...when do we get our table assignments? I gather from the posts that you may be able to visity to dinning room and find the Maitr'ds to get that information. I just for the life of me can't remember when we get the info.

Thanks

Hi Angie and Shawn, you will receive your specific table# on a card

in your cabin after you board. It will also state main or late seating.

Yes, you can visit the Maitr'd as they are outside of the dining

room the afternoon you sail.

The T pool on the Summit was included with the price of the cruise.

There is signage that indicates that no one under the age of 18 is allowed.

I cangratulate Celebrity for encouraging their disabled passengers to use it. The pool is heated and very theraputic for tight muscles! I just wish it was acccessible for those in wheel chairs!

Hi:) how was seating handled on your X cruises?

All mine were assigned seating except for the one time I sailed
from San Juan back in Dec 2004 on Constellation. We sailed late
and they had cards for either main or late but it was not with your
regular tablemates.
Actually we had a group of at least 20 people from our roll call
and we sat at 2 tables next to one another on that first evening.

Otherwise, on my 12 other X cruises it has always been assigned
seating at your specific table on the first night..casual dress.
