jp2001 Posted February 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2008 Last cruise (solo), I booked an GTY inside cabin but have been upgraded to a picture window, I enjoyed ordering room service and eating sitted by the window before to head out for a day in port (beats the crowded buffet anytime for me). Since it's a scrapbook, I thought I would include a photo.

kitty9 Posted February 6, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted February 6, 2008 For me, it would be something like this: I was sitting on the same bench where Princess Diana had her picture taken while visiting the Taj Mahal. I was just enjoying the tranquility of the place when two young men approached me and asked if I would take a picture. I thought they wanted me to use their camera and take a picture of them, but no, they wanted to each sit next to me and have their picture taken. All of a sudden, I had quite a few Indian people wanting to have their picture taken with me. One woman even handed me her adorable baby to hold. I looked over to my tour guide and saw him laughing. After a while, I finally got away from the area and asked the guide what was going on. He said that for many of the provincial people, they consider it good luck to know a light haired, light eyed Westerner, so that's why they wanted to be in a photo with me. Rare Lois R Posted February 7, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2008 Hi Darcie:) Great idea! I have lots and lots and lots of wonderful memories and I have only been cruising for 5 years. May 2008 will be exactly 5 years:) So, can we post more as we think of them? I have one that stands out big time. Sailing Mercury out of San Diego to the Mexican Riveria in March 2007. That cruise was so special. It was my birthday and there were 6, yes 6 waiters on board that had all been my waiters on past sailings.:D The Restaurant Manager was outstanding and I had my picture taken by the ship's photographer with all 6 waiters, my Maitr'd AND the Restaurant Manager:) It was Formal Night and we all stood together at the bottom of staircase in the dining room, the waiters in their tuxes and me, in a long gown. I have that picture here at home...... What a special, special cruise:)
kitty9 Posted February 7, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted February 7, 2008 Great photos, Lois. Post as many memories as you want. It will be nice to read everyone's memories, just like a scrapbook
DiveMaster Posted February 8, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 8, 2008 Nordam '07 Boarded the ship and was sitting eating lunch when a female passenger went down aft by the pool. Looked unconcious and her companions were worried. A crew member sent a runner for the doctor. A gurney was brought and the passenger loaded, but a crowd of other passengers was blocking the path out. Got to do a bit of crowd control to assist getting the passenger and medical staff out. I'm a Life Guard and CPR Instructor so getting the opportunity to step up made the cruise. Great photos, Lois. Post as many memories as you want. It will be nice to read everyone's memories, just like a scrapbook
dnice1979 Posted February 8, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 8, 2008 These are a few of my favorite memories. There will be more to come when I first saw this assortment of delectable desserts I almost fainted from shock.

Luckysll Posted February 10, 2008 #10 Share Posted February 10, 2008 I just returned a couple of weeks ago from the Carnival Spirit to the Mexican Riviera. I love to gamble on the ships and had let their Ocean Players' Club know that I'd be onboard. When I arrived in my cabin, there was a letter offering me a free drink in the casino as well as $5 free table play. Then, after the muster drill, the steward arrived with a plate of chocolate covered strawberries compliments of the Ocean Players Club! Best part of cruising solo - the chocolate covered strawberries were all mine! :D
Rare Lois R Posted February 10, 2008 #11 Share Posted February 10, 2008 I have received those strawberries too but usually give them to my cabin attendant (I can't eat that many before they would turn). More memories;) .....one of the best excursions I have ever taken was a culinary one in Cozumel. We went to a resort located on the beach and had service stations we cooked at~we made a fish dish with mango salsa, stuffed peppers and rice pudding. I had never made rice pudding before and it was FABULOUS:D. I never knew it had milk and sugar in it. Click on the webshots in my signature and Century 2005. You can see me with the guys from the resort with our Chef's Hats on:). Makes it very worthwhile when the excursion exceeds your expectations!!!! NancyChgo Posted February 11, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 11, 2008 This was a singles cruise. They had a T-Shirt contest for our meet before sailaway. Our group planned ahead -- We each had a letter on the front and back of our shirt that spelled out something, and for the life of me I can't remember what it spelled! Like H A P P Y (turn around) H A L L OW EE N..??? Nevermind, forgot I can't post pix from my website here :(
Rare Lois R Posted February 11, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 11, 2008 Hi Nancy,:) why can't you post your pictures? I have webshots and flickr listed in my signature. All you have to do is click on them and look at all my photos from prior sailings.
JoKen1 Posted February 12, 2008 #14 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Lois, I love how you took photos of all the staff people and you were with them. Do you just ask to have them stand there with you? I would love to do that on my next cruise. It's a wonderful way to remember the people on the cruise with you and also have some nice photos of yourself on the cruise without having to be the only on in the photos. I hate just standing there alone and having someone take my photos.
dolfansam Posted February 25, 2008 #15 Share Posted February 25, 2008 I have a lot of great memories on the cruises I have taken. My most memorable was taking my niece to swim with the Dolphins in Cozumel. She had been wanting to do this excursion for five cruises, but never got the chance. We booked it three weeks in advance of the cruise to make sure she would be able to. It was expensivem but the look on her face was worth a million dollars. I only wished my sister (who was home with the other two kids) could have seen her face. We did buy the video, but it did not capture everything. Of all the cruises and excursions I have been on, this was the best by far. We swam with the Dolphins this year too. This time the entire family participated, but the first time will always be special. I got to see my other niece and nephew interact with the Dolphins and it was priceless too. It is definitely magical and as they say an "experience of a lifetime."

Hi Joken, yes I ask those folks to join me in the pictures and all of them are always happy to do it:) I think I put names on most of them~my wait staff, cabin attendants, bar staff:D ....they have always been helpful and have made all of my cruises memorable.:D
