LeftcoastBC Posted December 2, 2010 #776 Share Posted December 2, 2010 I doubt if anyone attached to Gord would do well in the next election. Christy although being attacked by Tillman in his last rant has been outside long enough and maybe has learned some people skills on the radio. It should be someone from outside for sure. Is she far enough? I couldn't agree more on the name change. :) Wild Rose equals ahhh let me see. Stellar Dogwoods. I'll be at the meeting on the 12th. to change the voting procedures. Will let you know what happens. But anything might in the mean time the way things are going with Kwan jumping the Shark. Canucks are almost as bad as the Leafs for playing with the heart strings of their fans. I'm almost just following the DUB these days. Now there is a horse race to be 3rd. :D
red knight Posted December 2, 2010 #777 Share Posted December 2, 2010 No, I have not been a Card Carrying member for years. But why the talk about Minor League Hockey? With 1 piece of Royal Silverware safely esconsed in its proper home hopefully for the 25th time the other important piece of Royal Silverware will go home this spring! Urban trekker Posted December 3, 2010 #779 Share Posted December 3, 2010 `Royal Silverware will go home this spring! ` Was a Habs fan growing up before the Canucks entered the League - if they do it it will be because of a BC boy in the nets. Good to see that the Coyotoes are drawing such good crowds - 10,000 or so a game - sure the other owners are happy throwing there money away - once they use up there tax advantages they will bale and bale fast and Bettman will be forced to move the team - Cheers Dennis

Now the Canuck win last night got a full 1 column 1 inch in this morning's paper....but that is progress there has been many atime when there was no coverage at all...say after a Cardinal win...not that there have been many this season...that's it they are news starved.:D

red knight Posted December 3, 2010 #783 Share Posted December 3, 2010 Buthead err I mean Betman will be happy if the Coyotes have to move, he is salivating at the thought of putting a team into Las Vegas, where they might draw 50 -100 people more than Phoenix! The way that idiot keeps changing the rules, all too soon a game will be 4 quarters with a 1/2 time show and nets as big as Soccer nets! And UT bonus marks for figuring out the cryptic post! I was born in Montreal, and occasionly my Dad got the company seats 2 rows up behind the bench in the Holy of Holies! Days of Beliveau Pocket Rocket the Gumper et al. Saw Orr as a brush cutted rookie!
LeftcoastBC Posted December 3, 2010 #784 Share Posted December 3, 2010 Red you are forgiven for being from Montreal. I saw Bobby play Jr. for Oshawa and also once in the Coliseum in YVR but.. to keep on topic I never saw him on a cruise. I did see Joe Kapp on a BC Ferry once though :)
red knight Posted December 3, 2010 #785 Share Posted December 3, 2010 Left Coast: You are forgiven for being from the Left Coast!:p I never saw a hockey player on the ferries, but I used to see Gene Kiniski and the All Star "Rasslers" on them, biiiiig lads!
Urban trekker Posted December 4, 2010 #786 Share Posted December 4, 2010 Since we are cruising along memory lane my one game at the old Forum was while I was attending a student liberal convention and we were offered standing room only tickets to watch a game - I beleive that the Flyers were the opponent. Those were my drinking days so I doubt that I was sober which probably is why I don`t remember too many details about the game. Cruising out of here - time for supper - might even put on the tele and watch the game. Cheers Dennis
LeftcoastBC Posted December 4, 2010 #787 Share Posted December 4, 2010 Dennis. you must have been drinking cause I don't think the "Flyers" played in the old Forum... maybe a really fast Western Hockey League game with a team from the south in orange :) PAc Coliseum was completed in 68 I think, and the first NHL game wasn't until 70. The WHL Canucks played 3 seasons there I think beforre they were bought out and joined as an NHL team in 70. RED..Joe Kapp is not a hockey player . Think Sam Etcheverry's sport :) And Gene certainly was a great guy got to know him in the early 70's and then our paths crossed many times in Point Roberts. His memorial service at the reef was "Memorial"
Urban trekker Posted December 5, 2010 #788 Share Posted December 5, 2010 I`m referring to the old Montreal forum - not the PNE one. As for Canada`s greatest athlete - the late great Kiniski - here`s a story - my late father did some bartending and got a call one night from one of Gene`s crew looking for someone to bartend a function at Gene`s place in Blaine - well dad accepted the offer - wages + one hour travel pay each way - Gene`s instructions were simple - all drinks minimum 3 oz no questions asked - dad talked about that for many years. LeftcoastBC Posted December 5, 2010 #789 Share Posted December 5, 2010 sorry Dennis I can't/couldn't think of any reason why someone would go to the Forum in Montreal..the Habs used to play there lol

Urban trekker Posted December 6, 2010 #791 Share Posted December 6, 2010 Chatted with the Minister of Citizen Services at the Santa Claus Parade today - she is my MLA and I did some work on her campaign - she hasn`t endorsed anyone yet but she certainly is enjoying the NDP`s death wish. Time to cruise off to bed. Cheers Dennis

red knight Posted December 6, 2010 #793 Share Posted December 6, 2010 Ahh yes the Flower, one of the younger Immortals! Now we have a good team again, Price in nets, a bunch of small fast fowards, PK Subban and other young D Men. The drive for 25 is alive! When Les Glorieux played the Cannots earlier this season, I read a team official moaning that the Habs played a fast wide open passing sort of game, not the tight checking sort they were used to playing! Have they never heard about Fire Wagon Hockey?:D:p
Urban trekker Posted December 7, 2010 #794 Share Posted December 7, 2010 Another interesting day in Politics in BC - there is a major rainfall warning in effect for the south Coast and Vancouver Island - must be NDPèrs shedding tears over their leader resigning - wonder how many people actually believe that she was bullied into leaving - about as believable as Gordo not knowing about the HST before the last election. Seriously I am getting close to deciding on a cruise for next year - not having one planned actually increases my stress level more than the actual planning of the trip. Cheers Dennis! porsena Posted December 7, 2010 #795 Share Posted December 7, 2010 Carol James has been the Liberals' best friend outside that party over the last few years. Her resignation is overdue. However, as a continuing MLA she'll continue to enjoy free cruises on the Coastal Celebration.

Urban trekker Posted December 7, 2010 #797 Share Posted December 7, 2010 If she stays on until after May of 2012 she will have enough years to collect her MLA pension - however I think the new Liberal Premier will call an early election and tie the HST vote in with it. porsena Posted December 12, 2010 #798 Share Posted December 12, 2010 I wonder if BCF has reduced the size of its coffee cups to come up with the cash needed for executive compensation. Our hot chocolate on the Coastal Celebration this morning marginally overflowed both cups by a similar amount. The cashier apologised and said the machine was calibrated for larger cups... Urban trekker Posted December 13, 2010 #800 Share Posted December 13, 2010 PD - trust you had a relaxing trouble free cruise - good to see that twit you have for an MLA is one of the baker`s dozen - heard a good bit of gossip at a Liberal function on Saturday morning - apparently the BC Fed was willing to pay off the NDP`s bank loan of about $1 million BUT only if James resigned immediately so I guess money talks - I actually rejoined the party - now that Gordo is gone I am willing to rejoin to rebuild the Party and help keep the Socialist hoardes at bay. We have our delegate meeting in Jan but so far I haven`t aligned with anyone but given some of the stuff about BC Rail that is coming out I would be concerned about Christy being the leader. Had a big turkey dinner last night for a few friends - still trying to decide what cruise to book for next year - looking for a price drop before I book the Panama Canal one.
