"house" phones on ship?

Are there "house" phones on the ship where you can call cabins from various places (teen club, restaurants, spa, etc.)? We just wondered about meeting up and if we could call the cabin and say "hey, were going to the show, etc?" or can they call from the teen club and say "were ready to leave, come walk us back". And do the phones in the cabins work like a hotel where you can call room to room? I haven't sailed for years and can't remember.

On all the cruise ships I've been, I believe yes there are.

Certainly you can call room to room, but I believe there are house phones by most elevators/stairs.

Not sure at other places, but then I didn't take notice.

Maybe someone else may know if at the kids club, etc,

I've noticed them mostly in elevator lobbies. I think each major room has a phone for crew, however, so I'd imagine there'd be one that could be used in the kids club if needed/asked for.

plus you have voice mail in you cabin.

I remember phones at various spots on Jewel last summer. Definitely one outside Adventure Ocean (and the Teen club across the hall).

There are definitely phones in the elevator/stairs area on each floor.

We found ourselves using these phones all of the time on our last cruise.

There were phones in every elevator lobby on Monarch which is one of the oldest ships in the fleet.

 

Newer ships might have more??:p

House phones are all over the place. They are not as obvious as ones you see in hotels though. They look somewhat like the phones in your house. Besides the elevator lobbies they usually can be found near or in the various lounges/bars. Worse case stop my the nearest bar/lounge and they can point to the nearest house phone.

Yes, it will show the cabin number.

 

There are usually house phones near all of the public bathrooms.
