cathyz Posted July 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2008 Did I see a change in the dress code for dinner. When did it change.... Jeans and long shorts?? Yes, here is the official dress code from the Carnival website. It was in effect when we were on the Elation in March and has been spreading across the fleet. Cruise Casual Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Sport slacks, khakis, jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long), collared sport shirts; Ladies - Casual dresses, casual skirts or pants and blouses, summer dresses, Capri pants, dress shorts, jeans (no cut-offs). Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Casual dinner for ladies and gentlemen: gym shorts, basketball shorts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, cut-off jeans, and sleeveless shirts for men. Cruise Elegant Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Dress slacks, dress shirts. We also suggest a sport coat. If you wish to wear suits and ties or tuxedos, by all means we invite you to do so. Ladies - Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; if you‘d like to show off your evening gowns, that's great too! Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Elegant dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, T-shirts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, jeans, cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men, sportswear, and baseball hats. trock Posted July 16, 2008 #9 Share Posted July 16, 2008 Ok here it is.. Picture a yellow book: Dressing for Dummies by Us Posters and trust me, OP, we are all dumb about this. Chapter One: Do not ask Cruise Critic Posters about the Dress Code. You will receive everyone else's interpretation of it. What is "appropriate" and what is "acceptible".. Chapter Two: English Grammar of Dressing. You will get definitions of words used to describe Carnival's Dress Code, irrelevant if they actually apply to Carnivals Code. Chapter Three: To Flip Flop or not to Flip Flop: The various degrees of acceptibility of which Flip Flops (or similar footwear) are dressy enough for either Cruise Elegant or Cruise Casual. Chapter Five: Jeans vs Jeans, Shorts vs Cargo Shorts, Capris vs Dresses The Semantics of Fashion Chapter Six: www.carnival.com ;)
