i got off 7/21 and we wore our bathing suits about 50% of the time on while we were on the boat. we mainly hung out in the hottubs, but took a dip or two in the pools ...better to have them with you and not use them then wish you would have brought them...

as for music, ehh.. the coverband was sorta cheesy same music over and over.. bring the ipod..

I was on the cruise with yittles&boone (Hi from Kay) and also wore my bathing suit quite a bit. When it was cool, the back pool was covered so a bathing suit was very comfortable. You definitely want to take one.:D

On the 5-night Victory cruise, which day is the $15 laundry day???

Thanks

I was on the 4 night and the $15 laundry was the last sea day. I'd imagine it would be the same on the 5 day but perhaps someone will verify that. I used the service and was very impressed. The clothes were very clean and neatly folded. No wrinkles at all!:D

Thanks for the info on the bathing suits. I am finding this a hard one to pack for.

I bring 1 bathing suit.........several pairs of capri's..........

2 pairs of casual slacks (which can be used during the day)

1 sweater, 1 sweatshirt..........a few short sleeve shirts that are casual for daywear and dinner........

It's the shoes that I overdue

yittlesandboone,

Did it look like people were purchasing tours on the jetboat at the port, last minute?

Do you think it's worth doing that versus purchasing the same trip (I imagine it's the same) through Carnival for more $?

We always purchase from Carnival........if there is a problem and you are delayed getting back to the ship, the ship waits for you........

This happened on our first cruise........the bus broke down........we had to wait for a second one, but if the ship was ready to leave, they would have waited for us........

CTMak, $15 laundry was the last sea day.

Pixiedust (love that name), As far as packing goes, plan on layers. I wore shorts and capris during the day on the ship, and in port I wore capris. I usually had a light sweatshirt or sweater with me and it was on & off throughout the day & evening. It was plenty warm on the day we left, and lots of people were lounging by the pool. I think the pool water is chilly, but the hot tubs saw plenty of use every day. I would definitely bring swimsuits, and grab the sun when you see it! It was fleeting on my trip. In general, I thought dress in the dining room was somewhat casual. I had late seating and I only saw a few tuxes on elegant night, some suits and lots of shirts & ties. Ladies all looked very nice in cocktail dresses & a few long gowns. Other nights I saw everything from nice jeans, dresses, capris, and even dress shorts. Everyone looked nice & neat, but not overly dressed up.

LeoJay, in general I thought the music on board was much better than typical cruise music with the exception of the Calypso band which I did not care for. My favorite was the Jazz trio, but they always played in the Ionian Room which is the Cigar Bar. The band in the promenade was good, and usually had a good crowd, but the dance floor is in a heavy traffic area.

Since food is always a hot topic, I just want to say that I found the food in the dining room for dinner to be very good. I like my meat quite rare, and once my server knew this he would go back to the kitchen to replace my meals when he saw the doneness of my steaks. I did NOT ask him to do this, and it was indicative of his great service. I actually had the best prime rib I have had in years on the last night.

Now, as far as the buffet goes, the food was just okay. The lines were generally long, hot foods were not really hot, and I avoided this as much as possible. Deli sandwiches were good, Mississippi BBQ was okay, and although I didn't have pizza it was very popular as was the WOK. Room service was timely but the menu and food is blah. I saw sushi outside the casino one day. I was too full to make it to any late night treats, but heard the Gala Buffet was impressive.

Another hot topic is kids. There were lots of kids on this sailing, and I can honestly say I did not see any problems. I did see some gorgeous well behaved kids, and lots of extended families enjoying being together. I had some nice conversations with young people, and heard lots of kids saying excuse me and thank you. The younger ones were clearly enjoying Camp Carnival when I saw them parading through the ship having a blast. Yes, kids were in the hot tubs. I NEVER saw packs of kids running around or using the elevators for play. I have been on cruises where unsupervised kids were an issue, so I know it can be annoying, but everyone on this sailing is to be commended for good behavior!

Thanks. I'll post a separate message to see if anyone knows whether they're comparable to Music Boardwalk.

I will be taking this cruise next week, with fifteen other people, and am encouraged by all the positive posts on this thread.

However, I have one concern. Even though the ship's passenger capacity is only 2700 if there are only two passengers in a cabin cabin, its maximum is 3400 if every extra berth is filled.

Is the ship adequately staffed to handle that many passengers and does this present any crowd control issues?

Thanks in advance.

Ship capacity (2700) is always/usually some amount less than the total number of available beds; they will not allow the ship to exceed maximum capacity, regardless of available bed space. I'm booked solo in a room that can hold two, and I'm considering bringing someone along, but if the ship reaches maximum capacity before I decide, I'll no longer have the option.

Thank you for the compliment on my name, (I assume another disney fan?) and thank you for all your help!
