DP Posted July 31, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2008 I spoke to an agent at Azamara who advised me that it is possible to purchase a wine package upon embarkation but he did not know pricing. He indicated there would be several levels i.e. gold silver diamond with different wines (red & white) to chose from each separate package and of course different pricing depending upon package chosen. Has anyone purchase this package? Any idea of prices?
adbnva Posted July 31, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2008 i wpuld be interested also because there have been numerous complaints about the quality & quantity after a few nites on board.
fPetrarca Posted July 31, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2008 There were no wine packages on the Quest during my Best of Italy cruise. Many of us thought it would be a good idea and senior staff agreed and said they were working on it. Sounds like it is now a reality.
critterchick Posted August 1, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2008 I believe Celebrity just started offering a wine package. Royal Caribbean has one, but it's nothing to write home about IMHO. Let's hope AZ can top both of them!
cruisecd Posted August 1, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2008 Here is some information on the Celebrity packages offered. Not sure if this is the same on Azamara, but thought it might help. I do not know where to find this online, but I have a brochure from my 6/27 Infinity cruise. Called 'Taste of the Vineyards', it is basicaly a series of 6 wine packages that you can choose from. Each package comes in 2 options/prices of 5 bottles or 7 bottles. The price ranges are as follows: 5 bottles - $164 to $212 7 bottles - $230 to $297 The packages are: Captain's, Maitre'D, Sommelier, Red Avant-Garde, Destination Europe and California Terrior. You can order these in front of buffet or through the sommelier in the main or specialty dining rooms. Not sure if these can be ordered before you board the ship. Hope this helps - Carol

critterchick Posted August 4, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 4, 2008 I just looked at the brochure and it states that a 15% gratuity will be added to the purchase. Carol Does the brochure show what wines are offered with each package? If so, could you perhaps post the wines or scan in the brochure & upload the pictures to webshots or another similar site? lisiamc Posted August 7, 2008 #11 Share Posted August 7, 2008 Wow, thanks! That's really interesting. I'm not a wine buff (just an enthusiastic drinker!), so I don't know any of these names. Any good? The prices don't seem too bad, at least based on what we pay in restaurants on land. Lisa

I recognize a few of the California selections - if you're allowed to pick any of them, then I'll be a happy camper! In the whites, the Murphy Goode Fume and Cambria Chardonnay are good. I love the Byron Pinot Noir - Royal Caribbean just took it off their wine list.

j2tx Posted August 8, 2008 #16 Share Posted August 8, 2008 I was just reading my ticket booklet for our August 16 departure from Athens, and it states that guests can bring onboard at the beginning of the cruise up to 2 bottles of "personal" wine per stateroom. You should read the fine print, especially about corkage fees if it's consumed outside the stateroom. I'm not sure if this policy applies to other embarkation ports, but I'll be bringing a couple of bottles onboard with me!

Aussieflyer Posted August 12, 2008 #19 Share Posted August 12, 2008 I asked Jancruz1 to check on the Journey (she is posting from her trip) and she replied that there was no wine package on Azamara yet but it was an improvement they were working on - but there is no indication of when one may be available. It seems all the discussion on Azamara wine packages is a little premature at this stage.
