290 Days out & have rm assignment on GTY

Is this absolutely possible? This is only our 4th cruise & we've done 3 GTY's & have never a room assignment until at least 45 days before sailing. I have a call into my PVP. Just wondering if this was written in stone. Hopefully not. No upgrade, bottom front of the ship. Was just looking for expert opinions.

49 days out here, and still no assignment here either.

This would be EXTREMELY unusual! I see that you're an experienced cruiser, but I'd carefully check all my different confirmations and documents and make sure someone didn't "slip" and accidentally book the specific Category/Cabin that you received. There's certainly plenty of time for assignment to change and probably some hope that towards the end they'll want some less expensive cabins to selloff, and therefore might move you up. It's gonna be a long 290 days!!! ken

Since you're 290 days out, that means that you might have to wait up to 290 days to find out what your cabin assignment is. 1st cruise or 10th, if you book a guarantee, you will have to wait along with everybody else until the cabins are assigned, and in some cases, you might not even find out what your cabin assignment is until the day of departure.

Contrary to what some might say, being a past guest doesn't "fast track" you to a better cabin assignment or an earlier assignment, so be patient.

Well I spoke to my PVP and he was pretty shocked along with me that the cabins were assigned this early and actually had to ask his supervisor some questions before he could explain it to me. Which I still don't really understand. In the short form, Carnival is kind of forcing people to pick their cabins as to get what they want & not rely on GTY's or upgrades.

But according to his supervisor, since it's still so early out, that it "might" change. Very slight chance though. I can always pray to the upgrade gods for the next 289 days and hope for the best.

Any cabin on the Riviera deck is still better than any day at work or home.

Thanks for everyone's input!

I have a guarantee for this January 09. If the explanation from your PVP was true, then me and others would be saying we already got our assignments. The fact that no one but you was told this makes me think they are trying to pull something and make you happy with a not great cabin assignment.

Look at all the posts from others who dont have their assignments and much closer than you are? The explanation doesnt hold water.
