v6dude Posted November 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2008 I'll be travelling with a young one and wanted to know if the airlines have microwaves on board since I don't think my DD will end up eating anything we can purchase on the flight. Was thinking of bringing the Gerber Graduates food should I need to feed her. Does anyone know? Thanks!
paul929207 Posted November 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2008 I have seen them heat up bottles for people on flights, so I assume they have a microwave.
cadmille Posted November 1, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Remember the three ounce rule for liquids in carry ons, I'm not sure what a Gerber Graduates food includes but it is something to be aware of.
kenish Posted November 1, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Airliners do not have microwave ovens. The crew can heat bottles by immersing them in hot water. FYI, ovens on airliners use heated air. Items that need heating are pre-loaded onto heating trays and put into the ovens in bulk. After they are heated they are put onto the passenger meal trays. (I used to work for a manufacturer of cabin equipment including galleys and ovens).

Airliners do not have microwave ovens. Ditto on the "no microwaves". No need to get the young one started on a tin-foil hat....plenty of time for that later when old enough to vote. KC_fn Posted November 2, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 2, 2008 I was supposed to heat the Gerbers?
CruiseIsFun Posted November 4, 2008 #8 Share Posted November 4, 2008 same way they heat baby bottles, immerse in hot water. It will get it warm but not hot. Maybe buy something your daughter will eat inside the terminal after you clear security?
