AMommyof2 Posted November 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2008 Just curious....I had originally booked an interior cabin, deck 2 on Majesty of the Seas. This is just a weekend "girls" getaway, so the room wasn't a big deal. But, I recently noticed on the RCCL website that outside guarantees were cheaper than what I had originally booked. So, I called C&A and changed to the guarantee room. I was placed in an oceanview on deck 8 midship. How obstructed are the views in these rooms? Are the windows blocked by the lifeboats? The lifeboats hang right in front of the windows. Not all windows are equally obstructed, however. Which cabin did they give you?

firefly333 Posted November 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 21, 2008 I loved deck 8, much more convenient and a full window even if it was a little obstructed. Would take it over the port holes on deck 2 any time. Mine was considered 25% obstructed. Maybe someone who had your cabin has a picture. I did a search and found a pic of my cabin before I left here and on webshots.

Merion_Mom Posted November 23, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2008 Our cabin number is 8564. That's not one of the "unobstructed" ones, but they all let in light. You just won't have much of a view. But you will be able to see what time of day it is and roughly what the weather is like! ;) It's also a connecting cabin. dirtgirl Posted November 23, 2008 #8 Share Posted November 23, 2008 I would much rather have an OV on deck 8 than on deck 2, obstructed or not.;)
sandytoes03 Posted November 23, 2008 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2008 We had an obstructed view before and it was fine. Let some light in, and we could see the ocean a bit. We usually have to get inside rooms, so we didn't mind at all.
cb at sea Posted November 23, 2008 #10 Share Posted November 23, 2008 None of the windows really gives you a great view like you'd get on an open deck or balcony! The window is mainly for natural light, and even if it's a bit obstructed, you'll still get the light!
suezyq50 Posted November 24, 2008 #11 Share Posted November 24, 2008 A little light is all I need. This pass cruise on the Monarch was an inside. I wake up 2-3 times a night. I had to use a flash light to see if it was time to get up?,or go back to bed!
JJ2sail Posted November 24, 2008 #12 Share Posted November 24, 2008 I've stayed on Deck 8 a couple of times. Really like the location. Here is a picture of the view from 8560. 8572 will be similar.
