Hi Radio:)

Thank you for posting all these Pictures:) I will taking my first cruise on NCL Majesty in April. After reading your posts, I'm more excited!

Do you know if they have ladies that braid hair in the Bahamas? I know it's a silly question, but my daughter and I want to do that. I was wondering if they have ladies doing braids in the shopping areas.

Thanks again for posting all these Cool Pictures!!

Wow, great posts!

It's surreal to see pics of the MJ/Seas and the NCL Sky in your posts. We saw both ships in Miami just two days ago when we got off the Jewel/Seas. Boy ... wish we still could be cruising ... :o

We are looking forward to being on the Majesty this next May ... have to get on her before she leaves the fleet. Our itin is Charleston/Bermuda/Charleston, 6 days. Folks we were talking to last week said the trip to Bermuda will be VERY rough seas. Is this true? No probs .. just want to come prepared with enough Bonine. HA! :D

Thanks for any info ...

Dianne

My very first cruise was on Norwegian Dream and it is just so sad to me that she is just sitting. I absolutely love that ship. It was just awesome, especially the "Wet Bar." I can't believe some company hasn't snatched her up!! I wish I had the money!!

Hey Radio, great pics of Freeport.....I didnt care for this stop when I was there last year but didnt have 3-4 other ships there then either.....Getting ready to go on the Caribbean Princess and was wondering if you can tell if it is floating in water again or still dry???? It is suppose to leave on Saturday......Thanks

John

The Majesty is the only Ship in port today with passengers. . . The Caribbean princess is in the Water, and the World, and Sensation are out of the water. . .

Have a great cruise !

Radio,

love the postings you bring back memories of our cruise on the Majesty last April. It was our first cruise and DH and I had a great time. We just took another one in Dec on the Pearl. Is the Dream like the Majesty that it doesn't have balcony rooms?

The dream had many balconies. . .but not as much as the other NCL ships.

Hello everyone. . . I decide not to venture off into town, but just to hang around the port area. I know, it sounds kind of boring, however several hundred other passengers had the same idea.

There are about 2 dozen shops, huts and markets right in the port area. There is a drug store, many shops selling clothes, souvenirs, and several shops selling food and drinks.

There is also a bar around back, but no Wi-Fi.

Several of the shops are currently vacant, and maybe they will resume service when the port construction is complete. I found out that the rental cars go 70.00 per day, and the scooters go for 50.00 per day.

You can easily get to the Lucaya Marketplace, resorts, Casinos, and beaches in enough time. (they are about 10 miles from the port)

The Carnival Conquest came in after we docked. She went over to the dry dock area next to Caribbean Princess. I saw that they are adding Carnival’s Seaside Theatre, and I assume other dry dock requirements.

I also noted that Carnival Sensation was having her Carnival Water Works park added on the stern, among other enhancements.

I was a little concerned that while entering the Ship area after visiting the shops, that the Port Police (Bahamian Port Security) did not ask for my ID.

They were standing over to the side, and I walked up to the gate slowly, looked over at them.(waiting for someone to check ID) I stood there for a moment and just walked through the gate an went up to the gangway, where NCL Security, was there to swipe my card, and X-ray, my packages.

I watched them again when I got onboard, and the Police were back in action again checking all passengers.

I had a great lunch today, and I am looking forward to Port Canaveral tomorrow.

This afternoon (430PM) is the Latitudes Party in the Palace Theatre, and late tonight is the White Hot Party in the Frame 52 Disco.(adults only)

The photos appear that it was a nice warm sunny day today, but it was a little cold and quite windy. The locals suggested that this type of weather only hits Freeport once or twice a year.

Many of the locals had on earmuffs, coats and wool caps !

Here are a few pics from today. . .

Well if that weather only hits Freeport once or twice a year they should be warm for the rest of the cruisers because last week loads of us women were buying up the sweatshirts and were glad we did. It was cold and windy then too.

Great review so far, Radio.

We were on the Majesty in November for the very first Bahamas/Florida cruise. It sure was cold in Freeport for us too. The high was like 65 degrees with a strong wind.I do believe that is the first time I have been diving in Bahamas/Caribbean where I was "shivering"between dives. The water was a nice 77 degrees but the wind chill must have been 50 out of the water---wish I had brought a coat!It was actually cold all week that cruise as a multiple cold fronts kept getting in our way.The winds caused us to miss GSC that week.Nassau was a little warmer with a water temp of 80 degrees or maybe watching 40 or so Sharks swimimng around me made it seem toasty,The Shark Dive in Nassau should be on every diver's "bucket list".It was literally freezing in Port Canaveral--29 degrees the morning we arrived.

I did get to see several of our old cruise ship "memories"docked in Freeport when we were there.RCCL's Sovereign of the Seas and Celebrity's Galaxy were in dry dock getting ready for the European market. The tiny Regal Empress (our first ship) was docked beside us undergoing some kind of repairs--I thought her cruising days were through but I see that she was in Nassau with Radio.Of course we were sailing on the Majesty---kind of neat to see 4 ships we had sailed on docked in Freeport.

Have a great week Radio and I hope it warms up for you.It was 15 degrees last night in South Carolina and we had snow on Tuesday so maybe that news makes the Bahamas seem warmer!

Please tell me what keeps bring you back to the Majesty? I am booked for July but after seeing how small it is, I need to find a few good reasons to go through with it.

going2cruz:

We love Majesty for the following reasons:

She is small enough to navigate without maps within the first couple of hours

We love that you see the same people and crew everywhere so you feel like you are cruising with a bunch of friends

Our cabin is great (we always get cabin number 917)

Main theater feels like a smaller club since it is a theater in the round

Dining in Four Seasons restaurant is more intimate and the service is better than the Seven Seas and it is the same menu

Italian restaurant is cozy, great food, ambience and no extra charge for eating there

Easy to get involved in many activities since you don't feel so vulnerable and shy as there aren't so many guests

One more reason that it is so great for us is we live about 20 minutes from the pier and we love Bermuda.

We will miss her next year and our trips to Bermuda. I guess we have been spoiled with the proximity to us.

Radio thank you for your wonderful reports! DH and I will be sailing the same route on April 11th and I am getting so excited reading your reports. I can't wait to see all of your pictures when you return! How were you able to go to Sandals for the day...do they offer day passes or are you a member/previous guest?

Thank you so much and enjoy the rest of your cruise!

Hello everyone. We left at the scheduled time of 6PM, and are heading toward Port Canaveral. We are moving at about 9 knts, and we have about 125nm to go.

The Majesty is really rockin and rollin tonight. . .

The Latitudes Party was pretty good. They gave away a lot of free items as raffles to many Latitudes Members. . .Free Bingo, Internet Minutes, Spa Passes, Slots Tournament tickets, Le Bistro passes, etc.

The Internet was down today for about 2-3 hours, but is appears to be working now.

I will be doing a Ship Tour tomorrow morning, then I will be going over to Kennedy Space Center . If I have time, I want to see Canaveral Locks, and maybe head down to the Cocoa Beach area.

I will be renting a car tomorrow, so no cabs, or busses.

Here a few pics from today. . .

I was viewing your June 2008 report aboard the Majesty and you had scanned the freestyle menus but it didn't say to what place. Just said Dinner A La NCL. Do you remember where they were for?

Thise were the NEW menu's for the Four Seasons, and Seven Seas Dining Rooms.

Hello everyone. . I had a great day in Port Canaveral Today. Yeah, I know the weather was a little cool, but the sun came out and it warmed up enough to make it comfortable.

I started off by going for a ship tour on Disney Wonder. It was a great tour, and I have never sailed with Disney Cruise Line. I may be doing a “LIVE” Report with Disney in the future. Disney is very excited about 2 new ships. The first one will be ready by 2011.

I called Budget Rental for a shuttle, to take me down to get my rental for the day. It is only a couple miles south in Cape Canaveral (3 miles south would be Cocoa Beach)

I went over to the best attraction in Florida. . . Kennedy Space Center (at least that’s what I think!). The cost is only $38, for adults. You can add to the base fare for additional perks (optional)

I was able to ride the Shuttle Launch Simulator, watch the 3D IMAX move, visit the Rocket Garden. . . I only wish I would have set aside more time. They have a great gift shop there that may have every single gift for NASA (try some of the Space Food). . . You can visit their website for more info. http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/

I have been to Port Canaveral many times, and I always try to go to KSC. I highly recommend it. I do suggest that you plan on spending at least 4 hours, so you can see everything.

I also went over to Canaveral Locks, because I can usually spot a Manatee there, but none were there today. . .Just a bunch of hungry pelicans.

I came back to the ship, because I am having dinner at Le Bistro (deck 5), and I will report on that tomorrow.

We leave Port Canaveral tonight at 10PM for our journey back to Charleston, SC. I should be another cold chilly night, and I never thought I would be describing the weather in Florida as cold !

Oh Well. . . I guess I will just have to cruise again further south. . .

Here are a few pics from today. . . I will start off with my tour of Disney Wonder. I took so many pics today that I will be posting them on my home page when I get back.

I will be uploading dozens of pics from Majesty, Sandals, Disney Wonder, Kennedy Space Center, and Port Canaveral to my album (below).
