It's a toss up for us however; the Sun came in 1st and Star 2nd. I think the reason we love the Sun is for it's size and the best crew--plus they put on one heck of a Halloween party and the casino was generous to us! We really enjoyed the AC stern suite. The Star was memoriable as it was a cruise we took our whole family on---we had an AB suite with the best master bath. Each ship brings back great memories and I can't wait to be on the EPIC!:D

The SS Norway will still be number 1 as it was our first cruise and brought us into this great world of cruising and the family of cruisers!!:)

Yep, but don't forget, the crew changes....

How often is the crew changed out? 5-6 month contracts?

I have no idea whether the crew has a choice or not or how the employment procedures work..

Do the majority of the crew sign back on to their ship after their contract ends or do they switch them around the fleet automatically?

Officers do 3 months and are sometimes extended, other crew is around 6-7 months sometimes extended to as many as 9 months.

So if you repeat a ship after a couple years away, it could have a different feel

I spent so many days on the Jewel (12 day-Egypt/Greek Isles cruise) that it would be bad for me to say any other ship at this point! However, I have seen images of the Spirit and I can't wait to sail on her but I'm more eagerly awaiting the Norwegian Epic!! The Epic will truly be the premiere ship in NCL's fleet (IMHO)! :D

Cordially,

The Norwegian Epic Cheerleader!

I don't see an option for "Yes"

LOL! Or how about All of the Above?

I picked the Gem. Yes, the Pearl is very very similar, but the Gem had more (and more convenient) espresso/cappuccino machines - we're really nitpicking here, but since the question was asked! I adore my iced lattes on the Great Outdoors deck each morning!! And though I love the Dawn, the Gem and Pearl have a better pool deck.

I am not surprised the Dawn is winning; every poll on this question I've seen here on the NCL board has been "won" by the Dawn (here's one from 2004 -- http://boards.cruisecritic.com/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=217, for example).

That's one reason we chose her, along with the very high number of repeat cruisers who enjoy the ship over and over. Now it's just 33 days until we sail and I can see for myself! :)

I am quite confused why the Dawn is such a popular ship.

The Number of individual posts in the Dawn Role Calls catagory is 154,000, the next runner up is only 45,000! Meaning that Dawn talk alott more about the cruise then any other ship.

I could see because the Dawn is out of NY would mean that it would have more repeat cruisers. But if the layout of the ship is what is making it a favorite, I would expect its sister, the Star, to be another favorite.

Ive only been on these boards a few months, and I deffinatly see more questions and reviews about the Dawn then any other ship.

Maybe the New Yorkers who cruise the Dawn just get alot more exited about their cruise and write more about it!

Not sure number of posts on roll calls and votes here have any linkage. But just to level the field 90,000 of those Dawn roll call posts came from 3 cruises.

I may be wrong but I think that maybe some of the 'repeaters' have sailed together enough that they really get to know each other & that helps feed the roll calls...

But then, the little Dawn roll call I was involved in did OK at over 2000 posts, and none of us really knew each other in advance---we just had a few (me included) that talk a lot :)
