Ladies, do you ditch your purses on the cruise?

Daytime around the ship: wristlet big enough to carry camera, sea pass, chap stick.

Evening: evening bag big enough to carry same as above except switch out lipstick for chap stick

Shore excursions: across the chest small (quite small) messenger bag big enough to fit a bottle of water, wallet, sunscreen, camera.

Smooth Sailing! :):):)

I'm looking forward to being less encumbered this time around. That crossbody bag I got from ebags has cc slots, id slot, pocket for my camera, money pocket on the back, and just enough space to hold a few things. I primarily got it for the excursions after reading that someone got their purse stolen off their arm, but it will be nice to not have to carry anything around while enjoying the capers.

I carry a small purse to the port but usually don't use it once we're on the ship. I have a very small purse that I carry at night that holds tissues, camera, lipstick, etc. and we take a large beach bag with us when we go on our excursions because we bring our own snorkel gear. I also do the lanyard thing because it makes it easy to keep my card with me without having to worry about wearing something without pockets.

Daytime onboard ship: Cute straw bag

Evening: Fabulous small evening bag

I don't carry a lot around with me, but need my room key, camera, sunglasses, pen, activity sheet, sunblock, and money for casino.

I bought a similar bag from ebags and it was perfect. It held my digital camera, a flip HD video camera, my wallet, cell phone, and ipod. I didn't even bring a regular purse onto the boat. I tend to buy huge purses and that was the last thing I wanted to lug around on vacation.

I have a tote that I carry on, that has enough different pockets, etc, for all wallets, passport, cameral cell phone, etc. I don't carry it around the ship with me. My S&S card is in a lanyard type holder. But at night I have to have my evening bags! :) !:D

I have a Coach swingpack that I wear across my body, then both hands are free for when I am at the buffet etc. I wish I could get away with carrying nothing, but I like to always have my camera with me.

OMG! We must be twins!:p I have the same bag! It's just the perfect fit for walking around the ship. I use a clutch bag at night, and depending on the type of excursion, take just the Coach bag shown, or share a special beach bag with the DH and DS that contains all our beach and snorkeling stuff, when we're in port! I also carry a large tote on the plane with the Coach bag inside it!:D

I wish i could ditch my purse, but with 2 young kids one never knows when they will need crayons or a tissue. I have a small straw one i use just for cruising and a backpack for on shore.

Once on the ship its a Coach leather wrislet during the day and evening. Sometimes I'll take one of my formal clutches. For shore its a small messenger style bag.

What I and my friend couldn't get over on our last Alaska cruise was the number of women who schleped around their big purses all the time, even at dinner and into the evening. I LOVE purses, but come on ladies. There really is no need for that, unless you want others to see your designer purses. They only thing we could come up with is that a lot of them were new to cruising and just didn't know about Cruise Critic :D

During the day on the ship, I carry a tote bag. That way I can fit my towel in it, camera, and any other odds & ends I may need. On land, I take a small handbag with a long strap so I can wear it diagonally across my body, both for safety and to be hands free. At night, I carry the same small bag, or an evening bag, depending on what I'm wearing.

A little off the subject, but on the last cruise that I took with the women in my family (to celebrate my sister's 60th birtday), I gave everyone little gift bags with things they might be able to use on the cruise, including one of these, although the ones I gave were orange and I got them at EMS.

They are very handy poolside and beachside, or even at the spa, when you don't want to carry more than your cruiseship ID/key card, cash, lipstick/chapstick, etc. and don't want to worry about things getting wet.

I ditch my purse on the ship. My s and s is on a laynard, and hubbie will carry a lipstick in his pocket if I need him to. On days in port, we never take excursions, we just get off the ship, shop, swim or just hang out, so I take a backpack with swimsuits, sunscreen, towels, swim shoes, and water bottles and we take turns with it on our backs
