Have the kids go to the kids activities, especially the first night.

We get the kids lanyards for their cards. Sometimes they get these at the club. The boys will use it like a wallet chain and the girls hook it into their purses.

As Essiesmom says everyone will get a card, it the Cruiselines way of seeing who is on board.

On our Carribbean trip with the kids a couple of years ago they were each given a "room key" card that was NOT the same as a Sign and Sail card. It did not look the same nor did it have charging privileges...

Each passenger (child or adult) get their own card. Each is tied to their own on baord account. Each account is paid by cash or a credit card. He same credit card can be used for multiple people.

You can also place limits on the kids accounts by talking to the purser's desk.

With Carnival, (my kids had their own Cabin). They each had a Room Key/ Sail and Sign Card. When We checked in at the Port, we had to create the account, and we told them NO Signing Privileges. So it was simple.

They have to EACH have a card, this is how they get off and on the ship. When we were in port, we just kept their cards, so they did not accidenlty Lose it.

Hope this Helps.

  • 3 weeks later...

I was willing to let my 17 year olds have charging privilidges, but was worried if they lost their cards. So I went to the Pursur's desk, and limited each teen to $50 charge privilidges. One girl got a photo, the other bought some little trinkets in the store. One time money was spent on a teen spa day. Could have gotten coffee or sodas.

At Walmart, before cruising, we got twisty, stretchy things to hold the keys. Like a big rubber band - fit on the wrist or ankle, probably big enough to go around neck, but still fit in a pocket. Similar to lanyards given in casino, but smaller.
