Hi, can you do one favor for me ~ find out the name of the Caribbean Band by the pool? It will be in the compasses. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Caribbean Breeze. They were on the December 5th sailing. Might still be there in January.

Joyceyw, off the topic just for a moment. How did you get the wreath into your avatar? I recognize the wreath from "smiley central" but I cannot manage to get the symbols into my avatar!! Please, I need your help??
I'm not Joycecw, but I saw your post and decided to highjack your idea :D Hope you don't mind. Anyhow, assuming you're Windows, just right-click on the image (e.g. from the signature in one of your posts), select "Save picture as ..." and put it somewhere that you can find it. Then, at the top right corner of any Cruise Critics page, select Quick Links > Edit Avatar. On the Edit Avatar page, select "Use Custom Avatar" button, Browse to the image you SAVED, select it, then click "Save Changes". I hope that works for you.

Hi Gambler, just got back from Navigator last week and didn't see the conceirge more than once - the first 5 minutes was enough!!

I assume from your handle that you are "casino friendly"......if so, how do you find the casino program on Rccl? I always play backjack and always bet 50 bucks a shot for at least 15 hours on a one week cruise....but haven't had much "luck" with their program....any thoughts???

I have yet to meet a friendly concierge in the RCCL concierge lounges on their ships.

The regular Concierge on the Radiance is Wilie who is on vacation. He is fabulous. The Concierge who is replacing him is new at his positon as he is normally an Admin. on the ship. If he is rude, go to Guest Relations and speak to Ghada and tell her. It will change immediately. Also, we just returned from the Explorer and Martin the Concierge is fantastic as well.

I did not read the previous posts, what shape is the Radiance in ie; carpets in the room , bedding etc....Sorry but my family is in the floor covering business and this is the first thing I look at. I was disappointed in the Voyager in 2003 it showed a lot of wear.

thanks Scoop

To be honest I haven't noticed any real problems - got a smashed window behind the lifts on the bulge and one as you walk out onto the open part of Deck 12.

Kids program has been excellent.

About to disconnect as I need to return the modem lead.

Take care - and if anyone has any questions, I will try to answer them later in the week, whilst I am in Miami.

Sailed on the Radiance a total of 76 days this year. She looks good but the mattress in our Owner's suite was absolutely awful! Nothing like the fabulous beds on the Ryndam and all of the HAL ships which have gone through the Signature of Excellence Program. Had a great mattress in our Owner's Suite on the Explorer in early December.

Hi Canvey,

could you tell me please if you can print and save to the disc, photos from the digital camera (Sony, using stick), at the Photo Shop. If yes, what is the charge per print ? Thank you, Dorota.

If you give the photo shop your Memory Stick, they will make prints for you. Do not remember the exact cost but it was not bad.

Karen: Yes, you can have a CD made up from your memory stick; however, we did this (ON the Radiance) last year, and when we got home there was NOTHING on our CD - all of our vacation pix gone! SO - be sure to have them show you that it actually copied (whether they think you're being silly of not - YOU stand more to lose than they do!)

I believe it was $18 or $20 to have them copied (down the tubes).

Carol,

How awful. So sorryy to hear that your CD was blank. Did you check the memory stick that they should have returned to you to see if they actually downloaded your pictures. Someone else must have yours. We sail with out laptop now so we download our own photos and then continue to use the memory stick over again.

Yes-I tried everything - the memory stick was ours - I didn't erase it right away - waited till I absolutely had to, then, taking them at their word (I point blank asked, "Now there's no chance that this didn't copy, is there?" They acted like it was just the silliest question in the world.), I erased to make room for more pix. So we came home w/some pix - all from the latter half of our cruise.

RCCL offered to reimburse the $18 for the CD, but, of course, the money was the least of my concerns - I wanted my vacation pix. Asked them to check to see if there's a CD sitting around somewhere they thought was blank, which possibly contained my pictures - but I kind of felt it was - out of sight, out of mind - they had a new batch of cruisers to service at that point.

It is my only complaint (albeit a big one!) - I LOVE Radiance - loved the service, the food, the ship. It was just about a perfect cruise. We're going on Grand Princess next month - just to try something different, but Radiance will be hard to top.

Carol,

Sorry about your vacation pictures!! We were not that impressed with the photo shop on the Radiance. We have sailed on the Radiance 76 days this year and she is fabulous. But, after sailing on the Radiance a dozen or so times we have gotten bored, so we sailed on the Explorer the week of December 5 and loved it. Had not been on a Voyager Class ship since the Explorer's maiden voyage four years ago. We too have decided to try something different after 82 RCCL voyages and sailed on the HAL Ryndam. We absolutely LOVE HAL now so we are booked on three of their ships for 2005. Sailing on the Celebrity Galaxy on December 30. Have a great time on your Princess cruise. The best cruise is always the one you are on.

Happy New Year!

Carol (sorry about what happened) and Karen,
thank you for the info and advice. I will be very, very careful with the disc and prints. Loosing pictures is worst then loosing a suitcase - irreplaceable. Can't wait for my 01/09 Radiance cruise. Thank you again, Dorota.

Canvey, thank you so much for an awesome week on the Radiance again, i wish i could get back on her sooner but we have some other plans that need to be taken care of first then back to cruising full blast. I having surgery this spring and need enough money to be out of work for at least 2 months so i need my savings as much as possible but hopefully soon will be back to cruising.
82 cruises?!?! Wow! What are all the things you liked better about HAL? I am sure food. But what about activities, "feel", etc.

Thanks!
That's 82 on Royal Caribbean. HAL is a different type of ambiance. THe service when you are in a suite is amazing. The food is fabulous. The activities more sophisticated and just as much fun. The Signature of Excellence upgrade of the ships makes everything brand new. There are no constant announcements and when there are announcements, which are very few, the CD starts with "excuse the interruption." Don't get me wrong, we love Royal Caribbean and especially the beautiful Radiance of the Seas, but it was just time for a change. Smaller ships go to more interesting itineraries because they can fit into places that larger ships cannot. Needed to see different entertainment and meet new people. HAL works for us really well.
Sad to say that the Concierge is rather rude - walking into the lounge first time, I was met with the stark words 'We are closed!!' - I assumed he was an attendant, and the concierge guy was not around (it was 20:45, with the Concierge being on duty until 21:00), but was a little shocked when he later informed me that he was the Concierge. As a first time cruiser with RCI, I expected a little better.
This is surprising to me. We were on the Radiance of the Seas sailing on Dec 12th thru the 19th and the Concierge was very friendly and accomodating. I happened into the lounge a couple of times when they were closed and he was very nice and even wanted to chat a bit. I KNOW it wasn't because I am extreamly good looking being a 50 year old heavy-ish sort of woman...lol.. NO..he was very nice. Infact, we have decided if we ever sail with the Radiance again, we have to have a suite so we can see our wonderful concierge.

Bank1,
There seems to be no "real" program or hard rules. You really have to ask for what you want if you are gambling enough. We received a bottle of wine one night from the casino and I got most of my drinks in the casino free. Hubby was "rated" but not sure what that will get us yet. We are Diamond members anyways so I think it is probably the same discounts.
