Onboard savings book???

Can someone tell me what an onboard savings book is??? One of the travel agencys are offering this.... Is it worth it???? We are looking to go on NCL Dawn, Oct 25th. sailing..... Just not sure which T/A or going with NCL rep.... Still looking around for the best deal.... This will be our 3ed cruise on NCL.......... One passenger is over 55..... Anyone have any ideas????

My TA also said they had an onboard savings book, ans said they were sending me one, but I was told elsewhere and here, that NCL doesn't have one this year. In the past, it gave you discounts in the casino, on the photo's and buy on get one dinner in a specialty restaurant the first day among other things.

there are no coupon or discount books offered by NCL for 2009-- you had better reconfirm with your TA--last years books are expired and are not valid-- make sure you check before you buy on ebay.

Unless their talking about the coupon book you can get on board for the casino by signing up. It gives you a free pull at the big machine for a free cruise , a $10 slot coupon and a few coupons for the tables.

 

However you don't get this from any TA's.

Thank you. I have more hopes of getting one from my TA after all! Although I liked the specialty rest coupon they used to have..bogo free the first night.

We just got off an NCL cruise yesterday and we didn,t see any of those coupons being given out or being used on board, I would check with NCL first before you buy them on line. They did have the normal specials,

 

free kids bingo with any adult bingo purchase

 

10% Off some duty free purchase at gift shop for latitude members

 

different spa specials all the time

 

none of these needed a coupon.

These books ARE available from your TA. Don't expect to save hundreds of dollars with them however. Jdechter's list above shows what coupons are included - mostly just little things to be used as incentives to have you spend more money - to save a little. I wouldn't book through a TA just to receive one of these books.

Can you post the ebay link because some of these do not look like the one's handed out in the past. Especially the Le Bistro one I think use to be 2 for 1 dinning or 1/2 off.

I just went to our travel agent today and picked up our welcome booklet and luggage tags for our upcoming cruise. I received the same booklet that jdechter described. It came directly from NCL to our travel agent.

I just booked a cruise today from an online TA. I am supposed to get 1 coupon book total for the 2 of us. From what the contents look like....it wont do us very much good as we dont do the spa or purchase photos. :( I was hoping for the 2 for 1 drink coupons that used to be in some booklets.

 

The TA told me they get these from the cruiselines.

I just called my TA and she said sometimes their agency gets them sometimes they don't. Also, their managers get them and the lowly TA's do not get them as a rule, they have to ask for them. She said she would see if they got any and if she could get her hands on one. I have no reason to doubt her word.

 

The whole thing seems to be hit or miss.

We cant really recommend on here....but hint Cxxxxe.com. They have OBC, coupon book, and bottle of wine. Make sure you ask for any discounts like lattitude, military, or union. I called in order to get a lattitude discount that didnt come up online. I booked this morning and the rates showing online now reflect the amount I got this morning after discounts. Good luck
