What do I need for Gibraltar? Pounds? Euros? Can I use either.

Both accepted in most places,

 

Change tends to be Gib pounds unless you ask for something different.

All the stores, cafes, and restaurants in Gibraltar will accept Euros, Pounds Sterling, or US dollars. They even have ATMs that will dispense in the currency of your choice.

Just bear in mind that although you can use UK pounds in Gibraltar, you can't use Gibraltar pounds anywhere else.

For value it is always better to pay in pounds or use your credit card in Gibraltar, as exchange rates to euro or dollar are not normally favourable in shops/bars/restaurants.

 

The post office only accept pounds if you are looking to send postcards or letters.

We were there in 2008. While it is true that you have various options I found that it was easier in British Pounds.

We were there in May. Most larger places will let you choose to pay in Pounds or Euros. Buses and small shops want Pounds only.
