Breakfast in Puerto Vallarta?

First off, getting an "Authentic Mexican Breakfast" at La Palapa is not possible since this is a high class restaurant that is about as Mexican as a good restaurant in New York. If you want authentic Mexican breakfast food, go to the Romantic Zone (south side) and get your breakfast from some of the many street venders. Just look for the stands that have lots of Mexicans eating and you will have a real authentic Mexican Breakfast. You will not see omelets, fried eggs, bacon, etc. You will see fresh squeezed juice, various types of tacos, etc.

Suggestions for an authentic Mexican breakfast would be appreciated. Always interested in trying something new and different!

Asking what an authentic American breakfast is will get you a different answer in Atlanta as apposed to Seattle. Same holds true for Mexico as cooking styles vary by region.

For Vallarta, two restaurants best known for their breakfasts are Freddy's Tucan and Memos Pancake House. Both are located in "old town" and we have eaten at Memo's quite a few times.

Memo's is best known for it's pancakes and waffles but also has wide variety of traditional Mexican breakfast items on their menu. Do a "google" search for both memo's pancake house puerto vallarta and freddy's tucan puerto vallarta & you will get quite a few sites with reviews.

I include the following link just because it has a picture of the street sign outside the restaurant - http://www.vallartasource.com/dining_locals_picks.php (go to the bottom of the page) And one for Freedy's http://www.virtualvallarta.com/puertovallarta/readers-choice-2009/best-breakfast-2009/index.shtml

Enjoy!

I was about to post about these two restaurants :)

La Palapa will give you a very elegant, nice, sand in your toes breakfast (which is a nice treat where ever one might be) but Freddy's and Memos are closer to what I think the op was looking for.

The spiced mexican coffee (across the street from Freddy's but closer to Olas Atlas) at Cafe de Olla is wonderful and the breakfast there is ok, but their wonderful coffee is steller.

OMG less then 8 weeks before I am back in PV :)
