  1. If all goes well and you dock on time, it is likely you could make your flight. But if you are late in, there is every possibility you could miss it. For domestic flights, we always book them for afternoons. We have been late into Sydney and were very glad our flight was late afternoon. As for international flights, there is no way I would schedule a flight in the morning. Sydney airport recommends arriving three hours before your flight is due to leave, which would mean you would need to be at the airport by 8.15am. Prepare for Flight from Sydney Airport
  2. I agree with Cbtours - we too only book flights for the afternoon, even domestic. We have been delayed arriving in Sydney. We smugly enjoyed breakfast and relaxed until we could disembark as we knew we didn't have to worry about our flight back to Melbourne.
  3. We have had the same happen on a Princess cruise - a large group seated nearby, sounded as if they had started drinking at breakfast. The noise - the overtop loud voices, screeching and one woman's ridiculous laughter was terrible and disruptive to enjoying our dinner plus everyone seated nearby too would not have enjoyed it. We decided to eat slightly later and only came across them once more. Fortunately they were finishing and left the dining room not long after. We did see them in a bar later when we went for an after dinner drink, so found somewhere else to have that drink.
  4. We watched the Geelong v Port game which ended up being a cracker, very much like the Melbourne v Carlton game on Thursday night. Swans are playing well and deserve to be on top of the ladder.
  5. Sorry to hear about your all and injuries Les. Hope you are recovering well and the pain is under control.
  6. Thanks Mel. I could have gone further with Rome, Florence and some of the Asian ports such as Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok. Yes the Grain Terminal is even further. We docked there in 2015 on Diamond Princess.
  7. Of course you can post on this board about your cruise in Europe. It is for Australian and New Zealand Cruisers, not cruises. I would love to hear about your adventures in Europe. Safe travels.
  8. Many Australians do go to Gallipoli Lyle and there are quite a few different tours to cater for them. I know quite a few who visited either on ANZAC Day or while visiting Turkey as part of holiday in Europe. A couple visited while working in the UK. Many all also visit the battle sites in France and Belgium and in particular Villers Bretonneux. We are very aware as a nation what Anzac Day means to us and it is the same I think in NZ. There were 40,000 people at the Melbourne Dawn Service at the Shrine at 5.30am this morning and probably similar numbers at other capital city services. My ten year old granddaughter has been asking her parents for the past couple of years to take her to the Dawn Service at the Shrine - they usually attend a local service. She evidently took it all in and wants to attend every year. There are always many children and teenagers at the various services and marches and I think that even primary school children learn about the battles of both world wars.
  9. Not ANZAC Day, but have been at sea on a cruise on Remembrance Day where there was a short service broadcast over the ship's PA. We had to ask a group of international passengers to stop talking during it which was disappointing. My son and granddaughter attended the service at the Shrine in Melbourne this morning and my husband laid a wreath on behalf of our fire brigade at a dawn service at the local RSL. I watched the Currumbin service on TV and watched the streaming of the Melbourne service on my laptop at the same time. Just watching the service at Gallipoli. Then it will be time for the football at the G.
