ellie1145 Posted July 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2014 There is a small pebbly beach near the town centre, but don't recollect seeing chairs etc. I believe that there is a beach to the left of the dock, but its a fair old walk with no proper sidewalk. Think it belongs to a hotel.
Rare Hlitner Posted July 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2014 We do not think there are any decent beaches near the tender dock which is actually located within the city. But you can certainly grab a taxi or take the inexpensive local bus out to Paradise Beach where they have lots of facilities and rental chairs. Rare mskaufman Posted July 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2014 There is a beach in town. No chairs, etc, but it was good to wet our feet after a lot of walking. We did not tender but docked and I took the following picture from the balcony. http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff386/mmkbx75/IMG_1033_zpsa8a9e5f6.jpg
John Bull Posted July 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Others have summed it up. The town beach is at the end of the harbour. Nowhere near good enough for a "beach day", just somewhere to break away from wandering the town for a while & mebbe dip your feet. Closest "beach day" will be Paradise Beach, needs a taxi ride of about 4 miles, 15 minutes. JB :)

We got a rental car and drove out to several beaches not too far from the main, charming town. Was it worth it? YES!! See my visual evidence. Some have seen these visuals, but for others newer to these boards, this info might help to verify that these various beaches on Mykonos are worth the effort to get there, see the "prize"! THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio Did a June 7-19, 2011, Celebrity Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of nice visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc., on these postings. We are now at 177,493 views for this live/blog re-cap on our first sailing with Celebrity and much on wonderful Barcelona. This includes Agrari, Elia and the long sweeping Kalafatis beach that has become famous to wind surfers. The second picture is from Elia Beach.: Here are some additional visual samples on the opposite side from the Mykonos village for various beachside activities:

The second half of this shows the afore-mentioned Paradise Beach. I could live without the music but the sea was lovely :D From memory it was a 10-minutes bus ride from near the windmills. All the best, tony
