Should say underneath it, does anyone know what is happening,

Most likely nothing. Like all the other schemes announced over the last few years.

When they tow her away from Dubai I will believe it, well partly. They'll have to be careful with the matches though.

Nothing has happened since the October 2013 article appeared, most likely because her current owners were unable to get investors. Since the article appeared her AIS indicator showed her destination as Singapore in October, then March, then to Odessa in July.

There were also reports of the caretaker crew not being paid and the Odessa destination was simply the Ukrainian crew having some fun with her bridge equipment.

Before the scrapping rumors last year she had been in warm layup. Since then she's been sitting dead. The hot local air, and no maintenance, certainly isn't doing anything good for her interior.

I hate to sound pessimistic....but it's beginning to look like the QE2 will suffer the same fate as the SS United States....just languishing away until she just disintegrates....

I wonder which will finally be scrapped first?

I hope I'm wrong, but don't see any real hope of a better fate for either....:(

And after the fire is put out, her owners will have two words to say to the caretaker crew: "Good job."
Just like what happened to the original Queen Elizabeth in Hong Kong Harbor in 1972. Hopefully this won't happen to the QE2 and it would be great if the SS United States can be refitted to be used as a floating museum/hotel and maybe also a casino and the same thing for the QE2. But unfortunately the future does look bleak for both ships :( Regards,Jerry Edited by Cruise Liner Fan
