Earliest flight time from Miami after MSC (Divina) cruise?

Just got off the Divina Saturday. Our disembarkation time was 10:15 and the last group's time was 10:45. It took us about 1/2- 3/4 hour to pick up our luggage, get through customs and immigration (the line was very short) and get our Uber (who was dropping off a Carnival passenger so she was close.) If you are in the last group, your plane will be in the air before you are off the ship, not to mention the time you need for check in. The only way to make it for sure is to walk off with your luggage. Express disembarkation was at 6:30 and 6:45.

I don't think you would have been safe with the noon departure.

Could I make it in time for a 9:00 flight if I did the express disembarkation? Leaving out of the Miami airport.

Our experience for disembarkation was very good. Because we have Black Card status, we disembarked at 8:30 and we were at the FLL by 9:15, having pre-booked our shuttle. Unfortunately it was Jan. 6th. Sad day really.

I'd say minimum time I'd book a flight from MIA would be 11:30am to 12 noon. The only thing I'm not sure of is, whether there's any heightened security measures, if not, you should be fine for 11:30. Rule of thumb is 12 noon or later, however, MSC is a little different in that you must be out of your room by 7 if not black status/yacht club or 9 if black status/yacht club. Like I said, we were off the ship, having had a nice breakfast in the MDR, by 8:30. Best embarkation/debarkation experience we've ever had.

Enjoy your cruise,

My first cruise with MSC last April I could have made that 9am flight no problem. Second trip in June - Not a chance in hell. It's a crap shoot.

OMG I am debating this 9:00 am flight to Miami. I am not a real gambler but I just don't want to wait around till the 3pm flight with a 11yr old!

Enjoy your cruise,

I have a choice of a 9am flight out of MIA or a 9:45 flight out of FLL not sure if I am going to take the gamble. You mentioned you were at FLL at 9:15.What transportation did you use or recommend?

QLS is the shuttle service we used. You need to allow time for security check as well. The drive to FLL is about 45-55 mins. depending on traffic.

Do you think I would be ok with catching the 9am flight if I express disembark? I think I am going to use SAS transportation but not sure if they service MIA.

We are not only doing the express disembark...taking all your luggage yourself...but we are in the yacht club & know we will be the first off the ship....so we are gambling on the early flight..

In this case you are a gambler. I would never do it . Miami customs it's a Pandora box you never know how long its gonna take to leave the port plus traffic plus all mess in airport....

Firstly, SAS does not service Miami airport. There is some strange reciprocal agreement between fade and boward county. You will need a cab. It was less than $20.

My first trip in April, I did express carry off, grabbed a taxi, and was at the airport at 7:50am.

Second trip in June was delayed debarkation. I was in YC-carried our luggage ourselves and wAs escorted first off the ship at 10:00 am. Those without YC reported that they didn't even get off the ship until early afternoon.

I traveled on the epic through port canavaral in December. Again, self debarkation (I only travel with a carry on), but port authority was backed up terribly. I was one of the first off and got to the airport around 11:30. I was fine for my 1:45 flight, but those with earlier flights didn't make it.

Bottom line, stuff Happens (medical emergency, port authority, bag handler strike, etc....). I've taken early flights before to save some cash, but I always pack my patience and have a back up plan. Missing a fight isn't the end of the world :)

Best of travels To everyone :)

Man you are a gambler. No lectures but let's just do the math:

In reverse from flight leaving9:00AM flight departs from from MIA.

Flight door closes 8:50Am

Arrive at gate 8:25 AM.

Print tickets and walk to gate: 25:00 minutes

Check in bags: Yes

Check Bags in: 15:00 minutes if all perfect no long lines

Must be at MIA curb by 7:45am

Travel time to MIA: 20 minutes if traffic is perfect(get all lights right etc.)

Walk outside and find taxi, load up bags, tell driver to drive like a bat out hell!: 10 minutes

Customs: 15 Minutes if all perfect

Get bags at Port of MIA: 5 Minutes if all perfect(have not placed your bags in wrong group etc it once too us 1 hr to find misplaced bags.)

Walk off ship: 15 minutes if no long line

Must start to leave off ship at: 6:40AM or earlier and from here on all must be perfect.

If no check bags at airport may get away with arriving MIA at 8:00AM. The schedule shows some wiggle room, maybe 15 to 20 minutes to spare.

If the stars are with you can make the 9:00AM flight.

I on the other hand, I would blow out my pacemaker worrying.

So, I hope it takes more that this to jolt you out of a relaxing 7 day cruise state!

Good luck to you.

Cheers.
