Does HAL offer any cruises to Caribbean during the summer months? Sailed HAL once, enjoyed it ... but since we can only sail during the summer we were hoping tha HAL offers some cruises to that region..

HAL stopped Caribbean cruises in the summer a long time ago. We used to enjoy them.

Now HAL starts to pull their ships out of the Caribbean in March and April to go to Alaska, Europe, etc.

Then the ships don't return until October and November.

HAL Makes ALOT more money in these other markets - just look at the pricing differences vs the Caribbean. Thus I doubt they will be back anytime soon.

We used to sail HAL's newest ships every summer in the Caribbean for years and absolutely loved those cruises. I continue to keep my fingers crossed one day (soon) they will return to having a ship 12 months in the Caribbean.

It's nonsense to say they left because of hurricanes. They sailed successfully for years with hurricane season. They pulled the ships to other itineraries because they can charge a much higher per diem for same ship, same cabin in Alaska, Europe and for smaller ships particularly for Canada/NE. The per diems we paid year after year for "S" cabin on Maasdam for Canada/NE was hugely more than same ship, same cabin in Caribbean.

World events likely will be the only thing that will bring HAL ships back to summer in the Caribbean, IMO.

Most other cruise lines keep at least 1 ship in the Caribbean year round -- and they are doing quite fine.

Actually, it is fewer ships than I would have imagined summer in Caribbean from Port Everglades. Given I've said how much we like going 'south' in summer, several years in a row, we spent 7-10 days in FLL in the Tower of Hyatt Pier 66 Hotel. Our balconies (wrap arounds) had view down onto Port Everglades right across the street and we were sad to see very few ships come in during our stay. Oasis and Allure were there weekly, a Carnival ship came in and maybe one or two others and that was all.

I think many more might sail from Miami during the summer.

Even easier......

Check any one (or all :D ) of the following sites:

http://www.cruiseportinsider.com

http://www.whatsinport.com/index.htm

http://www.cruisett.com

http://www.portscruisett.com

http://www.cruisetimetables.com

http://www.cruisereport.com/portsofcallList.aspx

None are totally accurate but it gives a fair idea of what ships are in what ports on what days.

Put in Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) or Miami to find ships sailing from Florida to Caribbean.
