Nink Posted January 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Has anyone done the Celebrity cruise line out of Honolulu and ending in Vancouver? If so, I have 2 questions. 1) Is there ever an issue with tendering at the islands? 2) How is the 5 day sail to Vancouver (ie weather etc) Thanks in advance for your help
FunCruiser56 Posted January 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2016 We have sailed Solstice from Hawaii and will do the same cruise again in April. Our last time we disembarked in Ensenada :( and we are very much looking forward to Vancouver this trip! We had no issues tendering to Lahaina or Kona. Hilo was docked. After the first sea day the weather was chilly but calm seas for the most part. Bev
CruiserBruce Posted January 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) Is there ever a problem tendering? Absolutely, there can be problems tendering, particularly in Kona. When we there on a land tour last February, there were 40+ mph winds two days in a row, and one day a ship bypassed Kona. I believe it was Celebrity. As commonly discussed here, the seas the last 48 hours or so away from the west coast can be rough, maybe longer from Vancouver. Rare Keith1010 Posted January 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2016 There can be problems tendering anytime of the year but you just never know. And the seas could be calm, moderate or even rough. You just never know. We prepare for the worst by bringing medication with us and booking a room that is more mid ship and hope for the best. JAKE3337 Posted January 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2016 This will be our 5th time doing this cruise this Spring. 1st time was Vancouver to Honolulu and all the other times are in the Spring doing Honolulu to Vancouver. We prefer this cruise more having the sea days at the end. We have never missed a port or had any bad weather. The first 2 days at sea are generally nice and then it gets much colder. awhfy Posted January 31, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2016 How cold is cold? 30 or 50-60? We're on this sailing also. Melody

If you do a Google search for climate in Vancouver that time of the year, you will get a good idea. awhfy Posted January 31, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 31, 2016 Thanks CruiserBruise. That's pretty much what we expected, just like Colorado; know I know what to put in the luggage!
shofer Posted February 16, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2016 We did this the first time to Hawaii in May, '02 and found the transition to Vancouver to be incredibly smooth sailing. The sea was like glass! But, as you know, this is unusual and weather varies. Second time was January, '06 a RT from LA with a more seasonal ride going and coming home. You have to tender at Kona but we had no issues both times. Not to say it couldn't happen which is for any tender port. We really liked the sea days since the Hawaii part was busy.
