Freedom Smoking Question

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was hoping some folks that have recently sailed Freedom can assist me. I have a friend that just booked a Balcony on FOS for August and wanted to know which side of the ship smoking is allowed on. She is trying to determine if she should switch their balcony to the non-smoking side so they can enjoy the balcony. Last time they had a balcony, they didn't realize they had a smoking side and there were smokers near them so they ended up not using their balcony. :(

Thanx in advance.

There is no smoking on balconies anymore, so either side is fine.

...and there never was a "smoking side" of balconies of the ship.

When smoking was allowed on balconies, it was allowed on ALL balconies.

It is now banned in every cabin and on every balcony.

Smoking is much more limited elsewhere on the ship, too.

Casino.

A couple of outside decks, one side only.

Hi...from everything I have researched...there is no smoking on balconies. The smoking side of ship is on the lido (pool) deck is starboard. I could be wrong...but this is my understanding. My husband and I actually changed our cabin to the port side due to this, in hopes on the smoke not drifting down. We are on FOS on Aug 28. I hope this helps.

Unfortunately, there are always those that like to break the rules and while you are sitting on your balcony after a fantastic day, drinking a nice glass of wine to relax before bed, you smell smoke coming from some cabin around you.:eek::eek:

Smoking on any RCI balcony was prohibited effective January 1, 2014. Marion_Mom outlined the permitted smoking areas.

The smoking side can vary by ship - we have been on different ships where on one side it was port and on another it is starboard.

That is when you call guest relations and let them know. They will talk to them about the no smoking policy. Some people that don't cruise very often aren't aware of the new rules. Unfortunately, there are some that do and they choose to be self centered jerks.
