june or july trip here??

Would really like to go to australia and new zealand in june or july since it is only feasible for me because of my job. Am I being practical in my thoughts for a trip this time of year?

If you visit Northern Australia, the weather is lovely at that time of year.

Many Australians travel north during the winter, for the warmer weather.

Suggest you check weather of places which you wish to visit. NZ will be colder than Australia.

We did a 14-day land trip to Australia & New Zealand 11 years ago in July. We thought the weather was perfect (I hate really hot weather). We even ate dinner outside one night in Sydney. Most times just a light jacket was required in south Australia and no jacket in the north. NZ was colder, but not like the winters I'm used to in Ohio. I would do it again in a heartbeat.:D

Yesterday was 25 deg c (77F) in Sydney. Today, right now, midday is 20C (68F) - admittedly we have had a really warm winter but our winter weather is usually pretty good.

Definitely come to Australia. QLD and Sydney NSW have mild winters which won't stop you doing anything (apart from swimming in the ocean in Sydney) but lovely time of year to walk along the beaches and do pretty much anything else really.

New Zealand is much colder - good time to go if you're keen on skiing.

Actually I've seen plenty of people in the surf in Sydney, without wetsuits, these past few weeks.

I love the winter here and choose to stay home and enjoy it. Most of the restaurants with outdoor areas have heaters for sitting outside at night.

Sydney has just experienced the hottest July on record and many places have had warmer winter weather than usual.

Just like I enjoyed my Dec/Jan trip to Europe, no reason not to.
