taxi vs minivan to beach

When we exited our cruise ship and asked for a taxi to the beach, we were herded into minivans. We had to wait for the van to fill, and then had to listen to high pressure tours being presented. It was uncomfortable as we were the only ones that wanted to go to the beach, and we had to interrupt several times to insist that no, we didn't want to go shopping first. We didn't see any small, 4 or 5 person taxis. Are they still there - and where??

We took a taxi. Maybe the front desk can call one.

There are taxis all over Aruba. Maybe walk up the street next time to find one?

In Aruba the official taxis only take 5 max. We had 9 people so we got 2 taxis.

We grabbed a cab right off the ship to Arashi. It cost us $25 and it was just the two of us. No sales pitch, no tour.

That was my understanding too from our visit last year, even though the vehicle was larger that was the maximum they could take.

we were a party of 4 & the cab fare as we exited the ship was only under $15 ea way to Palm beach. You can also take the bus but the line is usually long to get on, easier to get on the return .
