Reliable private transfer from port of miami to miami airport

Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for reasonable transport from the ship docking in Miami to miami airport for 4 adults (plus luggage of course :) ).

We did get a quote from QLS ($75) for a private van - which we thought was okay - but when questioned about timing and pickup - they basically said we would tell them what time we want to be picked up (which would be approx 10 am) and the would be there - BUT they would only wait 10-15 minutes and then they would leave!!! Really?

When we asked about getting a cell phone # for driver and letting him know our 'progress' thru customs/luggage pickup etc - they said they don't do that - just one pickup time and if we miss it too bad (and we're out $75 and on our own again!!!)

Have now contacted supershuttle/blue shuttle (or something like that) who will do this for $70 - and said that it would be fine to be in touch with driver in order to adjust timing as required....

Wondering if anyone has had experience with this company? And/or if they can recommend another private transfer company that will actually WAIT for us after they take our money! LOL :)

We used John's car service

You call when you are clearing the ship then when you are at the curb

He was there right away

We did not pay upfront just secured with a CC

Is there a reason you won't just use a cab? Cost is about $25 and there will be suv cabs available.

No reason - we were not sure about availability of cabs for a party of 4 with lots of luggage :)....and then waiting in line to find the right size car - we could of course split up but prefer not to. Also liked the idea of having this planned ahead of time and possibly less stress and confusion upon dismembarkation!

After almost missing our flight because of the taxi line ups we will share a private driver or take the ships transfer in future

YMMV

Cruised several times from POM and never had to wait longer than 5 minutes in line for a cab?

Lucky you

We waited over 1 hr in line

Just because it did not happen to you does not mean it did not happen

I wouldn't bother with a private service. Of course the choice is yours. ;) Car services get pretty busy with runs back and forth on weekend cruise dates, so for sure book asap and find out if tip is included in the quote. Many now do expect that paid with the booking.

We too have never been close to missing a plane. If you book a flight at noon or later, unless you chose to diesmbark the plane as one of the last cruisers, it would truly be a rare event to be close to missing a flight. If you are off the ship at 8:00, with a noon flight, even IF an hour wait for a cab, you'd be at the airport 3 hours pre flight. I remember once having to wait about 20 min. for a cab at POM. But that was the about the longest we spent in a cab line.

Could delays happen? Sure. But just plan for those and you are good to go. Have a wonderful cruise.

Things can happen out of your control

For us the disembarkation was delayed they did not start until 9:15am the taxi line was long the port finally commandeered a car shuttle bus to get people to the airport

We had a 12 35pm flight should have been fine .... we got to the airport at 11:20 thank goodness I had upgraded to BUS class ..no line up at check in

Yes you may be fine with a taxi

If others choose to spend theirs $$ on a private car service ...why do you care it is their money they are spending
