Weather in Sydney in early January

We are doing an Australia/New Zealand cruise in early January. What weather can we expect?

We will be in Sydney on New Year's Eve pre-cruise. What is the weather there?

Anything from around 18C to 40C, sunny, cloudy, dry, rainy, thunderstorms in the late afternoon. Sometimes windy, sometimes not. Who knows? Sydney summers are unpredictable. This year we've had cooler days interspersed with hot days. Quite often there is a pattern of warm, warmer, very warm, hot with thunderstorm, repeat. :D

As OzKiwiJJ says, it is the middle of summer so Sydney varies from warm to hot.

NZ varies from coolish to warm.

Essentially it is the same as February weather, so if you google "Sydney weather" or "Auckland weather" right now you will find out the current temperature ranges.

If you are wanting to know what to pack, for Sydney it is tropical weight clothing and NZ the same with a few warmer pieces.

We spent 3 weeks in OZ several years ago touring by land/air. Loved the country and are looking forward to another visit as well as seeing NZ.

Good choice of cruise line and the Melbourne to Sydney routing via NZ is a nice itinerary - we'll be onboard for the Holiday cruise just before yours - looking forward to NYE in Sydney - the fireworks are spectacular. We'll sure be hoping for fine weather and a clear night

January in Sydney, one word "Hot". Not as bad a February as a rule, but still generally hot.
