Queen Victoria casino

Hi everyone, just wondered if anyone had any information or photos of the casino on the queen Victoria. There doesn't seem to be any pictures of it on the Cunard website.

We are not too bothered about the gaming tables, however enjoy having a bit of fun on the machines.

Can anyone comment on the size of the casino and if it has a bar etc.

Thanks in advance.

The casino was remodelled when the single cabins were added at the end of last year.

There is a youtube video of the refit which may give you some idea of what remains.

Thanks so much for all your kind replies. The YouTube video was most informative.

The casino looks as if it will be fine for our needs if what we saw in the video is the finished product.

We are not huge gamblers by any means, however like to put $20 aside for the machines in the evenings-it was something we did on our first cruise and its a wee cruise treat that has remained with us.

We have never cruised with Cunard before and to be honest wondered if we were perhaps a bit young for Cunard (37 and 38) however my parents are loyal Cunard fans and asked if we would join them on a canaries cruise in November instead of going on a similar cruise with P&O. I think we will give it a go.

Will the fact that Cunard ships are liners make any difference to the crossing on the BOB? We have had a few choppy sails across there when sailing out of season and on our first cruise on the independence of the seas, we couldn't even stop in Madeira as the crossing was so bad.

I know you take your chances with the weather when sailing to the canaries out of season, but fingers crossed the weather will be kind to us-we've had both glorious and freezing in the past!

Thanks again for your replies

Only QM2 is a liner. QV and QE are much the same design and layout as P&O's Arcadia. We have had stormy weather crossing the BOB on both the smaller Queens, plus on QE crossing the Atlantic, and not found them a problem. Not as stable as QM2 of course, but still pretty good.

I am sure you'll enjoy the Cunard experience and if you're on the November 16th trip, we are on that too

Ah sorry I didn't realise they weren't all liners!

We did the canaries on the Oceana last spring and it was fairly choppy! Nothing we couldn't handle though!

Yes it is indeed the 16th November we are looking at-not a bad deal when you consider the obc and drinks package included.

Just waiting on hubby getting his holidays authorised at work then I think we will go for it-hopefully Cunard can link our booking so we can get a table for dinner with mum and dad?

You should be able to link, if you both booked under the same fare type ie not the late saver etc.

We didn't get the drinks package, but we did get the double OBC which was on offer at the time, and that was very good we thought.

There is a roll call for that cruise here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2173593

See you on board :)

Thanks Gill, yes we will be booking the same fare as my parents. They are already booked and got a good obc as well. The drinks package wasn't on offer when they booked.

I shall have a look at the roll call as soon as we (hopefully) get booked.

Quick get your hard hat on !! :)

You are never too young for Cunard. On my first voyage I was 37 (and turned 38), Hubby was 30. Few people think that they are 'old' - they've just lived longer.
