Is Eden still a tender port ? I seem to remember reading somewhere that a new wharf was being built so that cruise ships could dock. Did that ever eventuate?

Sounds like Eden has a wharf for small ships, whilst larger ships have a short tender.

In Eden, I enjoyed seeing whales close to shore and visiting its National Park.

Port Information

The Port of Eden has established itself on the cruising calendar with visits since 2005.

Ships that have visited include Pacific Princess, Oceanic Princess, Orion, Silver Shadow, Silver Cloud, Europa, Seven Seas Mariner, The World, Albatros and the Volendam.

Larger vessels have favoured anchoring in a sheltered location, where a 5 minute tender ride will land passengers in the heart of town.

Snug Cove Breakwater Wharf

Situated on the eastern side of Snug Cove inside the breakwater.

Multipurpose Wharf

Located on East Boyd Bay, the wharf is 200metres long, 30 metres wide and reached by an access jetty 560 metre long and 7 metres wide. It is a 30 minute coach ride from Eden.

There's always the whale museum. We've been there twice and once took a harbor tour once as I recall, but it was unexceptional.

Then there's the whale museum at the top of the hill which was rather interesting. The walk along the cliffs is nice, but views are somewhat limited due to the trees.

It's a quiet little place, but a peaceful way to spend a day. I would not book a cruise just because it was on the itinerary! ;)

I would give the Eden Killer Whale museum a slightly stronger recommendation than have previous responders, at least for anyone with even a slight interest in whales and the history of whaling in this region. We also enjoyed the walk and scenery along the cliffs.
