Odyssey: Not quite on and not quite live

I'm in your camp Mr Luxury! We never travel light and love to dress well on board. Just trying to see both sides.

I agree there is nothing wrong with either view of the dress code as long as people feel comfortable.

A lot does depend on where you come from geographically and what type of life you lead.

I have to disagree to a certain extent, though I understand and appreciate your point. "Personal Comfort" is why you can't go to a Broadway play without seeing a woman in short shorts and "I love NY" glitter T-Shirt and her escort sports tattered jeans and a wife beater shirt. It sometimes is more about joining in and not doing just what one wants.

 

OTOH, I suppose that the majority of paying customers will always rule and that both styles and trends change over time. I tend to equate a luxury with the wearing of better than casual clothes. If I felt such that I'd REFUSE to wear a jacket or tie, I'd probably prefer another cruise line! LOL!!

The discussion was Tux or suit, not Tux or shorts or Tux or tattered jeans.& wife-beater shirt. While I do own a Tux with both white and dark jackets, I don't enjoy wearing it. I do enjoy wearing a suit. Therefore, I no longer pack my Tux. I also choose to wear a jacket on non-formal evenings.

No doubt some 'regulars' may look down their noses at such a choice. Having only nine cruises with Seabourn and a 10th one booked and paid for, clearly we cannot be considered 'regulars'.

I never understand why people say that a suit is lighter to pack than a Tux.its still a jacket and a pair of trousers plus a Cummerband and a bow tie.

As it is your first time on Seabourn I would wear it as many others will do the same.

Because the suit can be dressed up or down, and separated - pants can be worn with shirt or sweater, jacket can be worn with jeans. One suit a few nights, with regular dry cleaning.

Yes this thread has been hijacked, and rather than let the International Tuxedo Brotherhood force us to fly into the White House in the cause of the holy Dinner Jacket, I'm going to be a heroic pilot and crash this bird right here and now.

We are so jealous, we disembarked the Odyssey on Wednesday in Mumbai. The Indian authorities caused mayhem but we made it out of the port eventually. Mumbai was fabulous because it was Diwali and we were given gifts and flower garlands. Lots of people stayed onboard to continue to Singapore. Hope all are having a great time.

Every Day at Sea is a Great Day

We are so jealous, we disembarked the Odyssey on Wednesday in Mumbai. The Indian authorities caused mayhem but we made it out of the port eventually. Mumbai was fabulous because it was Diwali and we were given gifts and flower garlands. Lots of people stayed onboard to continue to Singapore. Hope all are having a great time.
