faymuiheng Posted October 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2014 (edited) Anyone come across this? I found a Pacific coastal cruise I was interested in, leaving on the 5th of April. Was about to put a deposit on it, til I was told it was non refundable. Now I didn't ask anything further beyond not booking it, but anyone able to tell me, if it was just for this specific cruise, or is this a new policy for Princess? Thanks! stag Posted October 31, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Like hotels, price is cheaper when the room is non-refundable. We recently noticed a good price for Caribbean. When we called Princess, the agent made sure we understood the booking is non-refundable. The worst case is that we might lose our deposit. Working 2 Cruise Posted October 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Promotions with non-refundable deposits seem to be more frequent. I guess Princess is tired of people booking and canceling cruises... I really can't blame Princess for this.
OCruisers Posted October 31, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Thanks for this post. Is this something new Princess is doing? LuLu
Working 2 Cruise Posted October 31, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Thanks for this post. Is this something new Princess is doing? :confused:LuLu No, Princess has been doing it for a while, but not on all sailings... I'm guessing that if there's OBC offered on a cruise, or a sale, then the deposit becomes non-refundable.
spindrift Posted October 31, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 31, 2014 If it is a non-refundable deposit, just ask what the cost of the cruise is without the promotion that has this stipulation. You have that choice.
san diego sue Posted October 31, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Last year I booked a cruise. Then price went down. Travel agent said we could get the lower price but deposit was now non refundable. I told her to go ahead and change price. Then a couple of months later there was another price reduction. Well, she gave me that one and then said that under this program the deposit was no longer non refundable. So all worked out great and we loved our much lower price cruise.
