casino slots voyager

Planning a cruise on Voyager and wondering if there is a source one can access regarding what slots are in the casino or if some fellow slot junkie :) is willing to spill their knowledge...

We know there's lots of other things to do and having been on other regent ships we are aware that casinos are small but remain curious

just off Voyager, very small selection of slots. For whatever reason, the Mariner and Navigator have newer ones and more selection. Some of the ones on Voyager are really old, one of my favorites "Little Green Men" which is by the window is so faded you can hardly see the panel. Also have found for whatever reason, I don't do very well on Voyager......always seem to do much better on Mariner and even Navigator.

Staff is friendly and Danny the Casion Manager while we were on, was always smiling and friendly. Didn't spend too much time there, the Voyager Lounge across the hall was always rocking at night and our group usually congregated there for some dancing after dinner.

Street96 - Living in Arizona around many casinos, and within a couple of hours of Las Vegas and Laughlin, I do have the opportunity to wander into many casinos, from time to time. :p I found the slots on both Navigator and Voyager (haven't been on Mariner yet) to be extremely "tight". As in, "not even a tease and a kiss".

I was playing quarters and dollars, and after spending $50 at a time on several different machines, in both venues, and at several different times, without a single "payline hit" on anything.....I walked out and never looked back. The Regent "business model" for their casino/s is obviously not a priority and is not meant to bring in too much activity. The way to ensure low participation is to set the machines odds for very low rates of payouts. They have succeeded!

That might be why both places were absolutely empty each time I was in there - no matter what time of day/night. Just a very few people (2 couples) at the table game/s and they walked out after 30 minutes. No one at the slots (except me). Did I mention that the machines were "dead"?!

It seems that Regent merely has a gaming parlor on their ships because they think every cruise ship is "supposed" to have one. :) My feeling is that Regent would actually have more business (more activity and more people coming in), and actually derive more resultant revenue (by volume participation) in these venues, if people like me actually observed/experienced people "winning something", from time to time. I've been to casinos where virtually every machine was in use and where new "walk-in's" were given $10 worth of "free plays". Nothing like that offered on Regent.

The financial success of all casinos (like Las Vegas) is to attract lots of volume (players) and to keep them coming back with the promise/reality of occasional "wins". No one would return to Vegas if they never "won" anything (even if they wind up putting it all back into the machines - which they usually do). On Regent, those who might contemplate dropping a few bucks in the slots will win virtually nothing, and will then walk out - never to return (like me). Many prospective players also won't stay (or even go into) a casino that is "empty" - the "emptiness" is indicative of a place were there are "no winners" and "no excitement".

Regent would actually have more players in their gaming parlor, promote more "fun environment", and in the long run gain more revenue (if that's actually what they want) if their machine odds (for winning) were set higher. Perhaps they feel that this wouldn't blend well with their model of "elegant cruising"? I found I had better odds of winning at the afternoon trivia contest than in the casino. This is only my experience and my thoughts.

I would imagine that most of Regent's passenger demographic has little interest in this activity (gaming). Perhaps others have different opinions and have had different results. I'd be interested in reading their thoughts. Regards

:( thanks for the responses. I am an "elegant cruiser" who enjoys casinos! LOL Oh well I guess I'll get over my extreme disappointment, trip the light fantastic while on the Voyager and then schedule a cruise to Vegas.

Larry/Street - Thanks for the feedback. I'm also an "elegant cruiser" who'd like a little "action" in the casino. If not....then why bother? I'll just mosey on over to the Connoisseur Club (as long as it still exists:eek: ) and have a nice single malt and a corona :D Best Regards to both of you.

My DH and I used to enjoy playing blackjack on board, when there was $5 tables. Even though I know I can afford to play $10, I just can't enjoy it. Funny, I still have the same gambling budget that I did in college, $100. Or is that how we can still afford to be cruising on Regent? I think they would have a busier casino if they dropped the minimums on the tables, craps and roulette would be great fun with lower minimums!

I remember the first time we sailed Regent (it was still Radisson in those days and more formal) and based on the demographics I expected the casino to be a scene out of a James Bond movie, with everyone all gussied up and playing Baccarat. Nope. And still nope. Some cruises get more action, but in general, I don't think this is a gambler's cruise line. Jeff

I recall that there was a $5 minimum at the crap table. Actually it was only a half of a table & I never saw anything like it. I did win a few dollars.

We got off the Voyager about 2 weeks ago and the slots were tight! My husband did hit the 4 deuces once but all his winnings went back in during our cruise with no further hits. Luckily, he did win the Texas Hold'em tournament a couple of times. I had a bit better luck with table games so I stayed clear of the slots.
