Sindhu if you don't like spicy Indian

This may sound like a daft question but we are looking ahead to our cruise next year on Britannia and want to make the most of the specialist restaurants.

The problem is that I hate Indian foods such as curries and can't stand anything remotely spicy. If we ate at Sindhus are there options that I'd be safe with or does everything have a spicy taste to it?

Hope this makes sense - I am happy to try new foods but know what I don't like and don't want to waste our money.

Thanks

I am sorry but all the times I have eaten in Sindu or East the choices have always been spiced. You can request them to have more spice added but I would have thought that no spice is not an option. The food is extremely good and nothing like our normal high street curry house.

It may be worth asking the man himself on his Facebook page you never know

I don't eat spicy food but my girlfriend does, so I went to the one on Azura in the summer. There were choices for all courses that I could eat. I had scallops to start, steak as the main course and rum & raisin ice cream for pud. They were all lovely.

I'm sure you will be fine.

Subtle indeed.

We went to East when Atul was onboard and found the food very bland.

Now I can handle a Phal curry (very hot) but I can also appreciate less hot but spicy and flavoursome curries - East served neither.

We even asked for extra spicy but it wasn't happening.

Thanks for the great replies so far.

I hate anything remotely spicy ---- hubby can hardly notice a spice with some foods but I can sense it at about 100 yards ! :D

Don't use Facebook so sadly won't be able to ask the man himself.

I suppose we can ask when we book and see that the menu looks like.

Nothing ventured, so I imagine we will give it a go ---------- and if I don't like it then I won't blame the restaurant. :) Having said that, I LOVE rum and raisin ice cream ;)

We too don't like Indian food - well not curries anyway. When we were on Azura we decided to try Sindhu to see if we liked real Indian food, not the sort you get from takeaways. The waiter was very good in helping us to choose the least spicy courses. It was all beautifully presented. However, we really didn't enjoy it - nothing at all wrong with it - just not to our taste and we won't be going back. This is just our taste and I know lots of people really love Sindhu but just not for us.

I guess you just have to try it for yourself to see if you like it - other people can only tell you their experience.

Presto2 - may I suggest that before you splurge on a main meal that you may not like, you try the nashta, the small taster portions that make a lovely, different lunch. That's what we did as neither the children nor I like hot, spicy food. Aromatic is fine, but anything with any amount of chilli actually disagrees badly with me. I think we tried 4 or 5 different dishes, which are all samples of items on the main menu, and liked most of them. One, which was duck, was to die for - I could have happily eaten a vat of it! In the end we decided there probably wasn't enough that we were all happy with for us to dine there in the evening, but we'd all go for the nashta again.

We don't like Indian food as I've said previously but we decided to try Sindhu because the only experience of Indian food we had was from Indian takeaways at home. So we thought it was a good opportunity to try 'proper' Indian food. We knew there was a possibility that we wouldn't like it but we were willing to try. So that's why we went, and yes we ate it but it confirmed that spicy food is not our thing - we don't resent having paid the supplement and it was an interesting evening.

I cannot understand why you would wish to go to an Indian restaurant if you do not like Indian food.

Hubby does and at home there is an Indian Restaurant that caters for those of us who aren't too sold on Indian food.

Plus - I once went to a Chinese Restaurant when I didn't think I'd like Chinese food for a friends 30th birthday. Her choice. Since then I love 'some' Chinese food.

If there is something Indian out there that isn't too spicy I will give it a try ---- and hubby will be happy as he gets to have a great night.

:)

I know exactly what you mean--- I imagine we'll give it a go and I may have to drink more water. ;)
