Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal size. Two nice chairs that reclined and had foot stools. Only flaw was that the table was the smaller, short version which would prevent dining on the balcony.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Nothing.

Any other comments? - The location of this cabin was perfect. A few steps to the elevators and then up to the WJ, pool deck, SeaPles or down to either the Esplande or any of the 4 restaurants and Casino.

Room never got cold. They attempted an a/c fix twice. Improved, but never got overly cool.

Close to elevators

Cabin is next to a maintenance room, so there is noise whenever stewards are working in there.

Speaking of noise, our steward Carlos was always shouting and laughing with people in the hallway with no respect for us. Very noisy, even early.

Carlos was below par as a steward. I've cruised RC 15 times previously and he was not very good. Everyday he would turn the end table sideways to make the bed, but would not turn it back. We kindly asked him to, but on the 15 day cruise, he did only twice. My bf had to fix it everyday night.

The last 3 days of the cruise, he did not replace our glasses in the bathroom, thus we had to get glasses from the bar to take vitamins.

Barely cleaned the bathroom.

Other observations: broken light switch behind the bed. ( did not report)

Cloth shower curtain in bathroom. No storage cabinets in bathroom.

Only 1 mirrored storage cabinet in room. Always have had 2 in past.

The mirrored door actually fell off one night. Maintenance repaired it. Still didn't use it as it bumped into the phone every time we opened it.

Ceiling started falling down one morning. Fixed quickly.

Closet must have been raided for hangers. Many missing. Asked for more and got some plastic ones.

Half the number of usual shelves in closet.

Biggest complaint: hallway noise plus maintenance noise

Would NOT recommend cabin. We joked about being stuck in steerage.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - One of the best qualities of this cabin was it's abundance of storage but no walk-in closet. Cabin is showing it's age, furniture is chipped, peeling. Drawers were difficult to open and close, rust in bathroom, big drainage problems in bathtub. Tub was very slippery and shower curtain was crappy.

Any other comments? - Nice location, close to stairs and elevator. One flight up to pool and Windjammer.

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very nice room! Plenty big enough for me, DH and DD. Loved the bathtub and walk-in closet. Big enough to dress in. Liked having a sofa plus a comfortable chair and ottoman. Did miss the coffee table though, especially on days when we ordered room service.

Balcony View - Very nice. No obstructions. No privacy issues from above or below.

Balcony Size? - Normal, but larger than our balcony in same class on Enchantment of the Seas. Comfortably fit three chairs and small table, with room to maneuver.

Was wind a problem? - No.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Nope. Nice stateroom.

Any other comments? - Toilet did not work for several hours one afternoon during port stop. Sewage odor throughout hallway. Problem rapidly fixed. No further problems.

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) –Located just aft of the forward elevator lobby, it is a quiet location and I was never bothered by hallway traffic or noise from elevators or crew areas.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes; connects to DO 6564. The connecting door is just inside the entry door and would not take up any stateroom space if opened, but it would cover the floor-to-ceiling mirror.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – The DO category means “Deluxe Obstructed Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony,” which is a new stateroom category introduced in Quantum due to the placement of her lifeboats. The staterooms in this category generally have either a 50% or 75% obstructed view, with the former indicating a lifeboat up to knee-high and the latter meaning part of boat davit (hoist) is also blocking the view. This stateroom is listed as 50% obstructed and does not have a boat davit in the view, only the lifeboat, which blocks all views downward; so you will not see the dock or the water surface adjacent to the ship. Additionally, this cabin is just aft of a wider “hump” section forward and therefore has little visibility forward; so no watching the docking and undocking evolutions from the balcony.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal. Royal’s website shows 55 square feet. It was furnished with 2 chairs with footrests and a small table.

Was wind a problem? - No.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No. The cabin was lovely and quiet, no smells (except that lovely new ship scent). I would not hesitate to book a DO category again if price was a consideration. If I’m forced to complain about anything it would be the "commute," and I would probably book further aft if possible. I say this based on my families activities that tended towards the aft end of the ship. We spent a lot of time commuting back to Two70, and the aft elevator bank and stairs as most of the teen and sports activities -- as well as the food -- is situated aft. The only thing that we regularly used forward was the Royal Theater. I would liked to have been closer to Two70, which is accessible through a door from deck 6, but depending on where you will spend your time, 6566 may be ideally situated for you. I do think the commute helped keep my clothes from shrinking so much during the cruise. :D

Any other comments? - Very nice stateroom with sophisticated décor that will WOW you. This room has a fold out double sofa bed. The connecting room does not appear to have a sofa bed according to the deck plans.

Plenty of storage, including shelves over the beds and sofa and numerous drawers and shelves throughout. Two hanging closets, one with an area for longer dresses.

Refrigerator, mini bar, and desk that can be moved to become a dining table for room service. Hair dryer in the desk and toiletries provided in the bathroom (soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion).

If you’re looking for digital tech, you won’t be disappointed: Digital safe, digital thermostat, digital phone with caller ID and voice mail, and digital flat panel interactive TV that can be pivoted from the wall for better couch viewing! Lots of lighting options and the bathroom has a nightlight that remains on. And, speaking of light, the balcony curtains can completely block out sunlight for the late sleepers and vampires among us. ;)

The bathroom is nice and functional as well with a vacuum operated toilet, glass-enclosed shower with a little bar to put your foot on for tootsie cleaning, a single sink and counter top with storage below and above, and a full width mirror.

The cabin specs say you get 198 square feet of room, with a 55 square foot balcony; so the same dimensions as the D5 and D8 categories and the same basic description (Two twin beds that convert to a Royal King, measuring 72.5 inches wide by 82 inches long, sitting area with sofa, full bathroom and private balcony).

In summation, I was wowed by the room and, as you long as you book with eyes wide open about this new category of obstructed view balconies, you will be too. :cool:

Quiet Stateroom? No problems. These are connecting staterooms and we had both booked. If you don't book both and like the location, rather book 7329, which is not connecting.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. N/A for balcony view. As for promenade view: these two cabins are right above guest services, with a beautiful view of the bridge and Champagne Bar. The bridge lighting changes throughout the cruise.

Any specific problems with this cabin? No problems.

Any other comments? These cabins are close to the elevators and stairs. We had no problems with noise and it was great to be close to the Promenade Cafe. However, if you are interested in watching the parade from the cabin, rather book 7283. Our parents had 7283 in the past, and it is much better for viewing the parade.

Any other comments? - Very nice for the physically challenged. Even a power, operated entrance door.

Location was a bit aft of what we would have preferred, but not too far from the aft elevator's.

Bottom line....I would book it again.:)

No noise issues. Equal distance from stairs/elevators in both directions. One deck up to Windjammer and pool. Same level, short walk to concierge lounge.

what page has the latest .pdf? I've been trying to find it. I will be in cabin 9520 on Brilliance of the Sea and I'm curious about the cabin.

We had two chairs and a table but there was easily room for twice that much furniture. Looking straight down was never a problem.

Was wind a problem? - It was breezy several nights when we were sitting on the balcony but that was due more to prevailing weather conditions, rather than the cabin location.

Any other comments? - The cabin is located just fore of the fore elevators. Long walk to Windjammers or the MDR, but we always cut through the Solarium on deck 11 or the Casino on deck 6 so the mobility challenged in our group could sit and rest for a moment. The cabin is directly above the hallway just outside of the Pacifica Theater - we never heard any noise from there at all.

Any other comments? - If you have motion sickness problem this is not your cabin. The sea was a little rough and the movements in this cabin were crazy. I'm still sick a day after my cruise.

There is a pole to walk around to get to railing, duck if you are over 6 ft tall. Under cover and can be in shade or sun but best for those who like shade.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Large Balcony with 2 chairs & 2 loungers , short table.

Was wind a problem? - No wind enclosed to the point you can sit on balcony in a rain storm if you stay to one side.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No problem noticed ever

Any specific problems with this cabin? - So nice you never want to leave but long walk if you do forget something. The poles do get in the way on balcony but once you sit down the view and quiet along with all the room is worth it.

Any other comments? - POLE ROOM is a D1 with the size of a JS. The Pole can block view of TV. :p It does help in rough seas and in dark to find you way. Balcony is great to sleep since it is under cover and partially enclosed. Lots of room as we had a wine crawl with 12 people in room sitting and 10 on Balcony with others walking around still not crowded (but comfy)

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – This cabin had a 'partial obstruction' which was the window washing equipment at the aft of the ship. I didn't find it a problem really but if you were looking forward and wanted to take a picture from the balcony, you had to choose your angle! The balcony section at the back of the ship was covered by the superstructure as this was the last cabin on the port side aft so was very sheltered.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized as it was the last balcony cabin aft on the ship's port side. The balcony was longer than normal with a nice pocket at the back end. We had a lounger & 2 x chairs + table.

Was wind a problem? - No, the balcony was very sheltered.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No but I thought it was small for a balcony cabin.

Any other comments? - If you don't like walking, this isn't the cabin for you! We liked it and certainly would book it again, the long walk down the corridor wasn't a problem for us as it made us walk off the food! :D

Quiet Stateroom? Stateroom was quiet until the connecting stateroom was occupied. Once they showed up we were able to hear everything from the interconnecting door. Which was unlocked for a part of the cruise.

Balcony Size? same size as the cabin in width, and about 6'6" deep, it had two chase lounges, in addition to two chairs and a small table.

Any specific problems with this cabin? Interconnecting door wasn't locked for part of the cruise :eek:, Once I figured out that it wasn't locked I called room steward into and she was surprised, it has been three cruise since there was need to have the door unlocked. She had to call the floor supervisor, because he has the door key.

Any other comments? The cabin was about was about 1 1/2 normal width of typical cabin balcony/outdoor/indoor cabin. It had a walk-in closet and stone in the bath room, also a tub. inside the cabin there was a foot stool, and chair as well as a love seat. would i book this category again, yes, but i would not book an connecting room ever again. other then the problem with the noise, because of the interconnecting room it was a great cabin centrally located .

Quiet--Room is extremely quiet but there is some "screeching" of patio door when closing it.

Balcony/View---This balcony is very private and also extra large due to triangular shape on the bump out. Mostly a shady balcony but would get some sun occasionally towards the balcony rail. View is of lifeboat almost to top of balcony rail then mostly clear water view above that. At end of right side of balcony is the white davit (lifeboat pole) which blocks some water view. Can see the water from the bed. There is a light shining on lifeboat at night but can't see this if curtain closed.

Room seemed more roomy than our other RCCL balcony rooms on other ships. Felt little to no rocking of ship, just some vibration a few times. Room is a little aft of the foward stairs/elevator and very convenient to Music Hall, Diamond Lounge and Theater.

Would not hesitate to book this room again

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Sink faucet was difficult to control, most often it was out of control - spraying everywhere. Hot water took a very long time.

Any other comments? - Right by elevators and stairs but decks away from most of the action. This left you at the mercy of the very slow, often filled elevators. Nice cabin size but would try for deck 7 next time.
