How Long Have Passports Been Taking?

Hi All,

My children's passports have expired and we need to get them renewed. We are traveling in January 2016. How long has the turnaround time been for those of you who have recently gotten passports renewed (or gotten them for the first time)?

Last spring we both sent in our passports to have them renewed on the same day.

I got mine back in 2 weeks.

DH got his back in 6 weeks.

Go figure.

When we applied for our passports, we were told to allow 6 weeks. I think we got them in about 4 weeks. Just to be safe, Sun, I would still allow 6 weeks.

We just renewed our kids passports the week after Christmas.

Got my youngest son's back in 2 weeks. Got a letter about our oldest son's last week that when we willed it out at the post office the guy screwed up and they DID need a copy of our licenses, which we were told they didn't because he was getting an adult passport (he is 16 now).

Turn around time at least seems very quick right now, but that was 2 weeks ago and things change.

I applied for a new passport (and had some legal hoops to jump through) and was told due to all the craziness that 8 weeks was a reasonable expectation. It took 3 weeks. :)

We just renewed ours.......checks deposited on Jan 2nd and we got them in the mail in Jan 8th.....:eek:

I was shocked!!!!
