Get on the boat Posted August 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2014 We just returned from our cruise on the Glory (July 26 – August 2, 2104) which included a stop at Grand Turk. This is our 4th time to Grand Turk in the last 3 years and we always go to Jack’s Shack and enjoy the atmosphere along with our children playing with Topher. Jack is always nice to talk too and we catch up on things since our last visit. This time while at Grand Turk, we noticed a new business that has started since our last visit (March 2014). There is horse back riding set up right down from Margaretaville heading towards Jack’s Shack. This does not seem to be affiliated with Carnival. A person has a few horses located by the pirate ship casino available for walks along the beach, which he walks the horses down the beach away from Margaretaville. The problem is that the people that are associated with the horse back riding, walk the horses down the beach at the waters edge and the horses crap right on the beach at the waters edge where people are walking and swimming. We saw numerous times where horse crap was right at the beach/water's edge where people had stepped in it and watched it being pulled right into the water where people were swimming near by. When we asked the operators of the horse riding place about scooping up after the horses, they shrugged their shoulders and went about their business. The person operating this did speak and understand English since he is talking with everyone who wants to go for a ride. To me, this is not good to be around if you happen to be right near the waters edge and the horse crap is behind you and gets pulled into the water which we saw happen to families not paying attention while playing at the waters edge. Just want to make future cruisers aware of this and to pay attention while walking/swimming at the waters edge. Mike

Sent from my iPad using Forums I read there is supposed to be good snorkeling near where the ships dock. Is it from Governor's Beach? Thanks. OCruisers Posted October 8, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 8, 2014 Many ports have excursions that include riding horses on the beach. It's no big deal.
