Is there a nice beach close enough to the port to walk to? Thanks.

No, we have gone to Fort James Beach, 6$ pp for a taxi ride maybe 8 to 10 min. Nice quiet beach with the ruins of Fort James at one end and a small bar etc at the other to rent chairs. Nice and sandy way out. Great beach to just hang out in the water, not great snorkeling due to very little coral or rocks.

Not the best videos, but it will give you an idea. Next time, I will take video with the intent to show what things are, and hopefully get better. These were taken with my underwater camera.

Thanks for the responses and videos. St. James beach looks nice, that's a good option to keep in mind. We've been to Antigua several times and do not want to take another tour, but a short taxi ride to a nice beach would be OK.:)

Could you rent an umbrella for shade?

Beautiful beach! Question for you: when you hire a cab to Fort James beach how do you arrange your return ride back to the ship? This looks a bit isolated, and we've always done ship sponsored excursions so have never had to deal with cabs ourselves. Thanks.

You could just ask your driver to come back for you at a set time. We have been able to catch a cab easily when we have been there. Once we hopped on with a small group going back and another time we just got in a cab that was waiting near the bar area.

No beaches you can walk to, but Dickenson Bay Beach is very nice and a short taxi ride away. Lots of little shops there, beach bars, and an over the water restaurant. Google it for images.

What would a taxi to Dickenson Bay Beach cost? Trying to decide whether it would make sense to do the Celebrity excursion which includes lunch or if it would be better to go on our own. Thanks!
