Peoples thoughts on empress post refurbishment

I was on the Empress 4 days in July (coco cay and Key west) and 5 day in August ( key west and conzumel). The service is great, food is a different menu pretty good, plenty of activities and nice nooks and crannies to discover - nice for sitting, relaxing . The ship is small only MDR, WJ and Chops. When I went all the previous problems had been repaired. the Casino had a few fans near the entrance still.

Great chhoice for short cruise, don't expect all the bells and whistles from an oasis class.

I plan to cruise Empress again.

We just finished a 5 day cruise on the Empress, to Key West and Cozumel - our first time on this ship. It's definitely small, but that suited us. I don't know how full it was, but there was a raffle on the first night for an upgrade to a junior suite. The venues (theater, Windjammer, MDR, lounges) never felt crowded, and it was easy to find quiet places to sit in sun or shade, and watch the waves. The service was excellent, in all respects.

The ship looked clean, not spanking new, but definitely not shabby.

There were several fans at the entrance of the casino; the casino was non-smoking, which we appreciated. We had no problem with the AC in our inside cabin. The toilet overflowed once, but was quickly fixed.

We weren't especially impressed by the food, either in the MDR or Windjammer, but we enjoyed what we had, mostly. The entertainment was very good (singers/dancers, musical impressionist Finis Henderson, comedian Carl Banks, singer Stephanie Parker.)

Embarkation/debarkation were fast and easy.

Overall, we were very satisfied with our cruise. We aren't big ship people, and we didn't miss the crowds and the bells and whistles that we've had on other, larger ships.

We'd sail on Empress again, for a short getaway.

Interesting. I received it and didn't gamble a lot. Pointswise I was only up to the level for a $5 refund. My hubby, who gambled even less than me, did not receive the email. Maybe they are targeting a little lower level than typical but not as little as my hubby played. [emoji848]

I didn't get the offer. Do you get points still for sailing if you go for it?

My friend got this offer and we are going. We had to pay taxes and gratuities. We chose to upgrade to a JS. The RC lady said if you stayed in the "free" cabin then no you don't get points but since we upgraded we will

How do you know that?

Every 5 nighter in October starts at $159.

When's the last time you saw Royal Caribbean at $32 per person, per day?

Didn't help that they released itineraries super late going into Q4 of the year when most people's vacation time is already spoken for.

Offered a free cabin on the empress from the casino. I was wondering what this ship is like. I've read some reviews both good and bad. Just two of us would be going no kids. What are your thoughts.

We were on the 4 night cruise a week ago from the 8th through the 12th. I recieved a free cruise certificate from Casino Royale while on the Oasis in July and the Empress was one of many cruises offered (mostly 3, 4, or 5 night sailings). We upgraded to an F2 on deck 8 for $29 each and paid grats and port fees. The casino also provided free drinks for the entire cruise when it was open.

The ship looked good with a lot of new carpeting and furnishings in the public spaces. We never waited for a table at the WJ and never had to look far for a chaise on the pool or sun decks. The casino was non-smoking which was wonderful. The service seemed better than many of the larger ships and all of the crew were very friendly. The MDR had the new menus and we thought the food was much better than the Oasis in July or the Navigator last April. We will sail the Empress again if the schedule works out and the Cuba itineraries are approved.

Offered free OV upgradeable to JS for $$, on ALL Empress cruises through Jan except the Christmas cruise, via phone call from Club Royale on Wed of last week. This was offered based on Casino pay of MJ, they told me. Then an email on Thursday, that many players got. SO not able to get off work so we had to turn the offer down. When the SO retires, we could have sailed for the next 3 months.... that would been a lot of B2B2B2B.....

I suggest each time you buy in for chips at the table, give the dealer/banker you SeaPass card so they know who you are.
