No access to the Diamond lounge for diamond members

Recommended Posts

From the C&A program, the rules...

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has the right to terminate the Crown & Anchor Society® Program ("the Program") or to change the Terms and Conditions of participation and benefits, in whole or in part; at any time without notice.

Just say'n ..... when the machine is broken or not working, or lounge is too full, consider it a change, and no notice required.

Troy, I'm no lawyer, but do you think Royal also has the ability to change the suite program as well. just curious

Oh, I agree..... Just say'n lots of lounges on ships as well as other locations to get specialty coffee... I suppose to some, it is all about FREE.

We have family and travel with friends that not only are in Suites, but they are D, D+ and one family due to be P soon...

Good information, and thank you for a good follow up.

We are doing the Ovation next April and I will be diamond Plus after that cruise, so your experience may well be my experience. I must say the coffee is important to me early in the morning, and the MDR is not a good option because it is closed when I want coffee, although one morning on my cruise on the Anthem last week the machine was closed for cleaning while I was there, and I had to wait an hour to get my coffee, but I was very early that morning, it was not a crisis.

JC

You are right and also for me, the MDR was not really an option for the coffee since as you mention it closes early.

This is interesting, our next cruise will be our first as Diamond members, and it happens to be a TA

i assume we will get a less than Diamond experience as its likely we will have many D, D+ and P on board.

who did you get to give you this credit? as compo for not being able to access the specialty coffee in the lounge?

i assume not the front desk?

also, is there a bouncer at the entrance checking the validity of cruise cards?

Your experience might be different since apparently one major reason for not allowing Diamond members to enter the diamond lounge at the TA with the Serenade was that the coffee machine for the Diamond plus members had broken and somebody has decided to give them the sole access to the lounge.

However the loyalty ambassador, who was quite irritated after so many people complaining, told us that we were complaining for a benefit no longer available to us, diamond members. The diamond concierge told us that we were denied access to the diamond lounge only during this TA. We found the whole thing a litle bit intransparent.

I suggest you ( all of you) change cruise lines. No kicking people out of bars on RSSC. And no lines waiting to get coffee. Plus 24 hour room service. All included.

Coffee is regularly available on all RCI ships. Good coffee is another question.

The reason for limiting access to the Diamond Lounge to Diamond Plus members and turning the Safari Lounge into a Diamond Lounge each evening on the Serenade was due to the extraordinary number of Diamond and Diamond Plus members and despite what the Diamond lounge concierge may have told you, free coffee, including cappuccino was available in Cafe Lattetudes at all hours, not just at breakfast time. Diamonds most likely had access to the concierge lounge on subsequent cruises if the numbers made that feasible. More than once when the coffee machine in the Concierge Club was not working on the Serenade TA, I went to the Diamond lounge and found that it was functioning and I was able to get my cappuccino. No big conspiracy to take perks away from C&A members, simply a matter of the numbers.

Cruisers on the repositioning cruise out of Boston may face a similar situation if the numbers demand and the functioning of the coffee machines is not a factor.

I have been to more than a few land-based restaurants where a request for a cappuccino was met with the answer that "unfortunately the cappuccino machine is broken". Seems that their unreliability is not limited to RCI cruise ships.

Just off Enchantment.....

The Coffee machine worked all week in CL, never more than a hand full of people in the CL.... never looked into the DL but it was above us and some could be heard clearly.... we heard the same persons cruise history every night... LOL

Ran into Super Mario in CL, very pleasant guy.

Not to be flip, but if you had your preferences, Mario would not have been in there for you to meet. [emoji6]

He had a Gold Card.... I thought the CL could be accessed by Pinnacles? Certainly he is a Mega Pinnacle.

Very nice guy and not loud at all... doesn't talk about his past cruises on this or that... mixes well with all and a great ambassador for Royal.

He actually had a big segment on the Next Cruise infomericals on TV... he did a great job presenting Royal.

The CL was nice and quiet for the most part, except one gentleman who wanted everyone to know about his cruises..... I guess one in each crowd...

Only bad issue was the ship was out of Bloody Mary Mix..... but we adapted to other drinks, our Bartender actually went out of his way to make SO drinks. It was great.....

I'll write another review or post about the new Club Royale in another thread....

Pinnacle is part of the C&A loyalty program. So I guess your OK with Pinnacles, just not D+ in the lounge. Just want to make sure I understand.

I have no problem with the C&A program, we are members... I have a problem with so many thinking they have earned perks that are good for life.... they are not... but perks are good....

I do believe that Suite Guest should have priority over all.... followed by P's and so on.... we were showed no extra favor as far as I could tell... we disembarked with everyone else that wanted to leave at 7:15. We did get reserved seats in the theater. Nothing special to those seats as they are in the back of the room... We enjoyed our cruise... We boarded when we got there..... had a bigger line in Suite/P line than other lines.... LOL

Maybe we might have an issue later as we booked the Presidents cruise in September for the Med and this cruise may have a million people with status in the CL. Hopefully no loud people.... some just like to brag about their status and/or cabins... we don't, we are not high maintenance . Some are. We did hear lots of stories about requests... LOL

Why don't you just get me started on Smoking.... LOL I think you enjoy the ride.... and, when I do my Casino post, smoking wasn't that bad in the Casino and Royal did a great job policing it... it has it's own side... and the cleaned out quickly... I was told that Empress is now NO SMOKING in Casino... a trial maybe?

Glad to here that! We were on a b2b on the Empress in August. It was very warm in there, they had fans going all over. It is a smaller casino, so the smoke issue was bad. The casino does not have the best ventilation system to say the least. According to the ship engineer, they are challenged and are working on it.

It has been our experience that on transatlantic cruises there are so many diamond, plus and pinnacle members that they don't have room to accommodate them all. They go out of their way to please everyone. I have not experienced any diamond member being "kicked out" of he diamond lounge.

That's great news... What I said, that many like to take a bit out of content, is that Suite Guest should be taken care of first in the CL/SL. Suite guests do not get drinks loaded on their cards like others do. If the CL becomes to crowed to accommodate suite guest, then Royal needs to make other accommodations for those with Status. Some think I would ask people to give up their seats.... not my job, I am on vacation... Only so many people from suites on a cruise while those with status can vary. We enjoyed our quiet (for the most part) lounge.....

On our cruise, there was one very loud coupe who were P.... but they didn't stay long... but they repeated the same story every night... I guess some like to tell their life history... we don't care... we laughed...

Flame me now.... LOL

Liked your 163, lately we have seen several p's in the sl helping new cruisers with questions. Seemed very helpful and relaxed

Suite guest do get drinks loaded if they meet the proper c&a level for that, at least we have

Well, your statement is interesting.... most will say that Suite Guest are not frequent cruisers..... I agree with you, I was speaking in general terms...

It matters not to us because we both have the drink packages... How does the loaded drinks show up on someone with the drink package?

See, I can be civil once in a while...

I don't deny that probably most all P's are very helpful to new cruisers. There just seems to be that one in every crowd who has a drink or two and then gets very loud and wants to tell the same stories every night... It probably happens in any Lounge... not just the CL and DL. I will say that the DL was a lot louder than the CL. It was above us but open.... the CL was nice for the most part and quiet....
