stric1234 Posted July 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2017 We are driving from Akron, Ohio to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in September. We plan to drive to New Jersey the day before and spend the night at a hotel, and then drive and park at the port the next morning. What would be the closest New Jersey hotel to the Manhattan port that would be the easiest drive into Manhattan the next morning? Thanks so much! What would be the closest New Jersey hotel to the Manhattan port that would be the easiest drive into Manhattan the next morning? Thanks so much! What is your sail date? What is your hotel budget? It's a long drive. Typically we recommend that folks look for a hotel in the Parsipanny, NJ area, which is about 45-60 minutes out of New York. This gets you off the road in a nice suburban area with less expensive hotels, restaurants, and services before you hit the NY metro traffic. The next morning you wait until after rush hour to drive across the George Washington Bridge and down the Henry Hudson Parkway/West Side Highway to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. This route has no real driving on local streets in Manhattan.
Rare Noxequifans Posted July 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2017 The Parsippany area has a number of hotel choices depending on your budget. In the morning you can listen to local NYC radio stations for traffic reports. The GW Bridge should work but there is the Lincoln tunnel to the south of the bridge. Check to see which is less backed-up.

138east Posted July 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2017 We are sailing Sunday, September 10. We would like to pay around $100 a night if possible. Thanks again, appreciate all suggestions! Sunday morning us the best traffic morning of the week. The Parsipanny area has nice business hotels that have good weekend rates. I'm seeing lots of choices in your $100 price range. Crossing the George Washington Bridge eastbound If you end up on the upper bridge, you want to be in the far right lane and take the very first exit at the end of the bridge to get onto the Henry Hudson Parkway South. If you end up on the lower bridge, you want to be in the far left lane to take the very first exit onto the Henry Hudson Parkway South.

138east Posted July 30, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 30, 2017 Does port parking at 40/day. 280 for 7 days include tax? Yes. It is private parking that is only open on cruise days with no in and out options otherwise.
pmclary9 Posted July 30, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 30, 2017 Well then it's then the comparison is just 28/day with park jockey or cruise port at 40/day. It's like $80. For the convenience of parking right at port, it is worth it

Rare Got2Cruise Posted July 30, 2017 #13 Share Posted July 30, 2017 I would arrive 11-11:30. You might have to wait but there are chairs to sit and they give numbers. Very well organized. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

On an average sunday morning (930ish), how long do you think it would take from Parsipanny to the port? We're staying at the Embassy Suites.
